Most of these have something to prove but SPREADSHEET turned things around with his C&D win last month and he backed that up with a good second over 5f at Salisbury. He remains well treated on his old form and has leading claims back at this track. The main threat could come from Cappananty Con, who returned from a break with a promising fifth from off the pace at Bath and looks interesting on his step back up in trip.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:25 Suanni

Wonderful World sets the standard on his two good placed efforts in the spring and is respected on his return to action, but slight preference is for SUANNI, who looked unlucky when third at Lingfield on his recent debut and has plenty of scope for progress on his step up in trip. Another key player is Mark Johnston’s penalised filly Silver Kitten, who showed a good attitude when making all over 7f at Yarmouth two weeks ago.

15:00 Pagan

Plenty have possibilities but the one that appeals most is the lightly raced 3yo PAGAN, who travelled smoothly for a long way when runner-up in his bid for a double at York last time and is open to more progress on this drop back in trip. Dual 6f winner Bezzas Lad has gone close in his last two starts and is feared most for a yard that won this in 2015 and 2018. The admirable veteran Shamshon is respected under a penalty for his brave win here on Wednesday, while others on the shortlist are Tyger Bay and Sir Oliver.

15:35 Katie’s Kitten

This should revolve around Apache Jewel and KATIE’S KITTEN. The former got back on track with a close second at Epsom last week and is on the same mark, but preference is for Mick Appleby’s filly who made it 3-6 in blinkers with her dominant display at Leicester and is well treated under a penalty for that 7l win.

16:10 Merlin’s Beard

A few of these come into this in good heart, but it’s hard to get away from MERLIN’S BEARD who was impressive when off the mark at Bath a week ago. His 6lb penalty shouldn’t be an issue and he can confirm the form with It’s How We Roll and Global Wonder. Hooves Like Jagger looked unlucky not to go even closer when beaten half a length into third here on Wednesday and the longer trip is in his favour. He looks the best alternative.

16:40 El Camino (NAP)

Top of the list is the unexposed EL CAMINO (nap), who found improvement on his handicap debut when a close third at Chepstow in June and is on the same mark here on his first run for Mick Appleby. The main danger could be Frontoio, who has had traffic issues in his last two runs and could resume his progress if he gets more luck this time.

17:10 Wild Flower

Four-time C&D scorer King Crimson turned things around with a 50-1 win at Catterick on Tuesday and is a big player if he can back that up under a penalty. Top Boy is respected after his strong-finishing second over 5f at Bath two days ago, while Breezyandbright has claims if he gets a good pace to aim at on his drop back in trip. However, it might be worth siding with WILD FLOWER, who kept on well when a good third behind an improver at Ffos Las last time and is now 1lb lower than for her last win.
