MISS ROULETTE has been a bit disappointing on her last couple of starts, but she is clearly capable of fair form on her day, as she showed when third on her reappearance at Haydock in May. A BHA mark of 69 looks workable on that evidence and she could be worth another chance now stepping up to a mile-and-a-quarter for the first time in her career.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
14:35 Mytilda
MYTILDA showed improved form to get off the mark over this course and distance 12 days ago, easily defying a BHA mark of 70 on her handicap debut. She travelled strongly and quickened clear in the final furlong to land the spoils by two lengths. That form comfortably sets the standard on these terms, so she rates a confident selection to double her career tally.
15:10 Wise Eagle
WISE EAGLE is thriving on racing and again ran well when second on his latest outing over this course and distance. He was beaten just a short head on that occasion and can race from the same mark here, so there is little doubt he remains a well-handicapped horse.
The application of first-time cheekpieces could also unlock a bit more improvement, so he is fancied to mount another bold bid as he seeks a sixth victory since joining the Adam Nicol yard.
15:45 Lord Riddiford
LORD RIDDIFORD bounced back to form to take advantage of a drop in the weights at Goodwood last week, staying on well to win by two and a half lengths (well on top at the finish). He gets in here under just a 5lbs penalty, which looks potentially lenient judged on the balance of his form.
After all, he won a Listed race on the all-weather earlier this year and the effort he produced at Goodwood suggests he can be just as effective on turf.
16:20 Hayadh
HAYADH took a step back in the right direction when third at Beverley last time, sticking to his task well to be beaten just half a length. He is on a losing run stretching back to his victory over this course and distance in September 2020. But, the handicapper has given him a chance, now 5lbs lower in the weights than he was then. This looks a good opportunity for him to get his head back in front if confirming the promise of last time.
16:55 Amelia R
AMELIA R proved at least as good as ever when successful on her most recent start at Beverley, hitting the front two furlongs out and quickly forging clear to win impressively by 4 lengths. That probably wasn’t the strongest race, but she is only 4lbs higher in the weights here and looks to hold obvious claims in her follow-up bid if arriving in the same sort of form.
17:25 G For Gabrial
G FOR GABRIAL is proving consistent and looked unlucky not to give the winner more to think about when second at Chester last time. That was a steadily-run race and he came from further back than ideal, doing well under the circumstances to be beaten less than 2 lengths. He can race from the same mark here and rates a solid option in a race where a couple of his rivals have questions to answer.
