14:10 Roman Dragon

ROMAN DRAGON clearly acts well around Chester as he has won here the last twice, dominating in small fields over 6 furlongs. He showed plenty of pace on those occasion, so the drop back to 5 furlongs shouldn’t be an issue and he enters handicap company from a fair-looking mark. Kieran Schofield takes off a handy 5lbs and Roman Dragon should launch a bold bid.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:40 Nuance

NUANCE is well bred, being by Frankel out of a Group 3 winner, and he has shaped with promise on both starts. He was fourth on debut at Haydock and then took a step forward when third at the same course last time, despite racing keenly. This sharp test will suit, and he remains open to improvement.

15:10 Dakota Gold

DAKOTA GOLD enjoyed an excellent campaign last season, winning four times and proving better than ever. He thrives on his racing, so ought to build on an encouraging return at York three weeks ago and he will take some catching from stall 1. The form he showed last season is the best on form by some margin and he escapes a penalty.

15:45 Heart of Soul

Course regular HEART OF SOUL has registered three of his four wins at this venue, and he has been in good form of late – following up a course-and-distance success with an excellent second over a mile-and-a-quarter. He is clearly in fine fettle at the moment and is fully effective around here, so he should give another good account.

Chester-Racecourse

16:15 Maglev

MAGLEV still didn’t look the finished article when scoring at Yarmouth on his second start, but he won in the style of an exciting prospect and is open to plenty of improvement. He stayed on strongly to get up in the final strides, clocking an impressive closing sectional in the process, and he should be difficult to beat if improving as anticipated.

16:45 Lincoln Park

LINCOLN PARK did remarkably well to win here over 5-and-a -half furlongs last time, staying on powerfully to get up on the line. He will be well suited by stepping back up in trip and should give a good account from this 4lbs higher mark. Jane Elliott, who conjured such an impressive burst last time, retains the ride.

17:15 Fairmac

FAIRMAC has been holding his form well of late and gained a deserved success at Ayr last time. He registered a cosy two-and-a-half-length success at Ayr and the form of that has started to work out well, with two horses winning subsequently and another finishing runner-up. He should give another good account from a 4lbs higher mark.
