I like the look of Stone Age for Aidan O’Brien and Seamie Heffernan. His first run at Leopardstown was impressive, where he finished third. He’s by Galileo and he doesn’t have to improve a whole lot to win.
Sherkin Island is the one for me, with Colin Keane on board for Dermot Weld. It’s only his second race but he impressed in his first run, finishing third behind Wild Dollar at the Curragh in May. That should be enough to win.
I’m siding with Nectaris, who was second behind Seisai at Gowran Park in June. Seisai has been beaten since. Nectaris then finished third behind Celtic Times at Tipperary and he could build on those performances here.
It would be easy to back Barud as he ticks a few boxes but watch out for Cool And Clever for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning. They don’t have a wonderful record at Galway but you can’t have a good record everywhere! Ground shouldn’t be a problem and he looks a progressive two-year-old.
This is a good contest. Crowns Major was unlucky here earlier in the week and Emmet Mullins also runs Gee Rex who ran well in his last start. Those both have a chance but I like Willie Mullins’ Baby Zeus. Going back right handed will help. He won well at the Curragh on his first start for Willie but he looked awkward going left handed for Hollie Doyle at Leopardstown. He’s back right handed, up in trip. 12f from stall 2 will be perfect for Baby Zeus.
