Boundless Power won’t mind the big field and he should handle the ground well. It’s obviously an open race so luck will be required but he must have a decent chance each way. He’ll be there or there about come the end of the race.
Dream Tale has the plum draw in stall 1 and has won from a prominent position before. The draw is so important in races from 7f to 1m so it played a key part in my decision and everything has gone his way. He’s been dropped in behind the frontrunners before but hopefully that won’t be the case here and he’ll be prominent. I pray Dream Tale bounces out and makes all.
On To Victory was second to Hukum here in a listed race in May so he obviously likes Goodwood and most importantly he is trained by Alan King! His runners are on fire at the moment.
Rock Etoile was fourth at Galway on Monday from a bad draw (to Black Cat Bobby who he meets again but has another bad draw). Rock Etoile has a great draw this time out and a lot of the fancied ones are drawn wide.
I feel people will get carried away with Wonderful Tonight in this race and he’s not worth backing at such a short price so I’m going for an each-way pick in Believe In Love. He was very good at Leopardstown last time out and she won’t have any issues with the ground. I was quite taken by that performance.
I thought Gavin Cromwell had a couple of really good runners this week and they looked in good shape. With Wayne Lordan booked, Basia is an interesting option. He could be a decent price and an each-way option.
This is a great race for tipping because no one expects you to pick the winner! Ed Walker is in great form at the moment and has booked William Buick for this big race. I’m not 100 per cent sure about the ground but Great Ambassador‘s rating is increasing steadily as he’s progressive. This will need a career best but sure, why not?
This is a two-year-old Nursery so who knows! If in doubt go for top weight in the Nursery, especially if it happens to be drawn in one, and it also happens to be trained by Dermot Weld. So it’s Barud for me!
I started on Crowns Major but I’ve changed my mind! Sionnach Eile is a bit inexperienced but that also means unexposed. He has a decent draw and must have a good chance if the step up in trip brings out a little bit of improvement.
