13:00 Last Crusader

Preference is for LAST CRUSADER, who made a bright start when justifying favouritism at Ayr and represents a yard that won this with a runner with a similar profile in 2019. Monsieur Jumbo didn’t find as much as expected when odds-on at Doncaster but that was in the mud and he sets a good standard on his promising debut last month. He’s respected, along with Grifter who was promoted to second ahead of him three weeks ago.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:35 Star Jewel

This can go to STAR JEWEL, who sets a useful standard on her impressive debut win at Kempton last November and has plenty of scope for progress this season. The main threat could come from the other penalised runner in Makinitup, who built on her promising fast-ground debut when justifying support in the mud at Lingfield three weeks ago. Iyaa was placed at Catterick last time and has each-way claims again, while the most interesting newcomer is the well-bred Talktothewall.

14:10 Whatwouldyouknow

Mr Coco Bean returned to form with a close third at Haydock and he’s respected off the same mark here, but preference is for WHATWOULDYOUKNOW, who has won twice for his new yard this season and made it 2-4 at this track when finishing well to beat the favourite over 1m1f ten days ago. Another key player is We Still Believe, who was a creditable third in his bid for a double last time and still has scope for further progress.

14:45 Sweet Believer

C&D winner A Boy Named Ivy seemed to have stamina issues at York last time and looks interesting on his return to 1m, while Broomy Law was a creditable front-runnng third on his handicap debut at Carlisle and has possibilities on his drop back in trip. However, the vote goes to the William Haggas-trained SWEET BELIEVER, who showed plenty of determination when landing a Nottingham novice 12 days ago and is a big player again off what looks a workable mark back in a handicap.

15:20 Oh So Hot (NAP)

Daysaq probably has a similar race in him and he is a solid candidate dropping into 0-55 company for the first time. Must Be An Angel had been threatening prior to a lesser effort last time and could revive, while a better run from Somekindasuperstar should be forthcoming today. OH SO HOT (nap) has run three good races since joining Adrian Nicholls though and this drop to sprinting could squeeze out a bit more from her.

15:55 Mereside Pearl

The far side has generally been the place to be here this season and although Lockdown Lass may be well-enough treated to defy stall 11, it might be worth looking elsewhere. Burtonwood is down in class and could go well but the unexposed 3yo fillies Zoom Star and MERESIDE PEARL may be worth concentrating on. The selection wasn’t beaten far in a Doncaster maiden last time and makes her handicap debut at a low level and with her stable in form. At a likely much bigger price there are reasons to expect better from Cock A Hoop on her first run for a new yard.

16:27 Aoife’s Joy

An open race in which the vote goes to AOIFE’S JOY, who stayed on strongly when recording her breakthrough win at Haydock and a 3lb rise for that success looks fair. The main threat could come from Lexington Warfare, who is on a dangerous mark and didn’t get any luck behind the selection 12 days ago. My Thought still has potential and looks interesting at this new trip, while others who could have a big part to play are Transition and Absolute Dream.
