14:25 Goodwood – Valeria Messalina

I’m going with Valeria Messalina. Seven furlongs is her ideal trip. She was second last time out at Fairyhouse finishing behind Pearls Galore. She’s the one for me.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

15:35 Goodwood – Poetic Flare

Poetic Flare could have an awkward draw, which is what he had at Longchamp in the French Guineas. Kevin Manning went forward but he got shuffled back into a position he never really got out of. Once bitten, twice shy and I can’t see that happening again to Kevin. He’ll go forward from stall two and he’s the best horse in the race.

17:10 Galway – Dark Voyager

This is a tidy race and I like both Suprise Package and Dark Voyager. Suprise Package is trained by Peter Fahey and he was a good winner at the Punchestown Festival in April over two and a half miles. Dark Voyager is trained by Willie Mullins and he ran twice at the Galway Festival last year. He ran into the Flying Scotsman on the Monday night and just wasn’t good enough to beat him but he bounced back and won a few days later. He then ran into Zanahiyr at Ballinrobe last October and slightly lost his way a bit. He looked good at Tipperary in May, the track will suit and he’s only four years old and can improve. He’s my pick.

17:45 Galway – Lasparas

Willie Mullins has two runners in Lasparas and Rayapour. Rayapour was bitterly disappointing on his first start at Kilbeggan. He then ran at Ascot and finished 12th out of 19. I prefer Lasparas with Paul Townend on board. He won at Tramore in June and he’s a great jumper. He’ll do me!

18:15 Galway – Annamix (each way)

If you look at it mathematically, The Shunter and Koshari ran in the handicap hurdle at the Punchestown festival. Koshari won by a length that day with The Shunter third with both racing off 143. Now, The Shunter has to give Koshari 12lbs, so Koshari would be a ‘lock’ if you go strictly off that form. Brian Hayes rides him as Paul Townend has elected to ride Royal Rendezvous instead, who should run a good race too.

Both Koshari and The Shunter could struggle with jumping fences, rather than hurdles, now. Top Moon has been heavily tipped up but A Wave Of The Sea, who is a reserve, beat him at Leopardstown.

If A Wave of the Sea doesn’t get into the race, the one I like in an each-way punt is Annamix. Patrick Mullins rides for Willie and he’s a big price. He’s had a little break and is in really good order at home. He’s a good each-way play in a wide-open race.

18:45 Galway – Dalton Highway

Dalton Highway looks really ‘well in’ at the weights, compared to his Flat form. He won at the Curragh on the level when he beat Dewcup. We know Dermot Weld loves Galway, he’s had a winner already so Dalton Highway is worth a go.

20:15 Galway – Merlin Giant

You have to think that Patrick has seen something from Merlin Giant to pick him and ride it for his cousin Emmet Mullins over his dad’s runners, Derracrin or Le Nouveau. Merlin Giant was fourth at Punchestown in April over two miles on good to soft ground. He’s well fancied.

Ruby Walsh’s Wednesday tips:

14:25 Goodwood – Valeria Messalina
15:35 Goodwood – Poetic Flare
17:10 Galway – Dark Voyager
17:45 Galway – Lasparas
18:15 Galway – Annamix (Each Way)
18:45 Galway – Dalton Highway
20:15 Galway – Merlin Giant
