Pleasant Man had some very good juvenile form in the book and when he made his reappearance at Windsor earlier on in the season. I’m sure connections were not thinking about running in handicap company off a mark of 95 at this stage of the game but that is where he is at the moment – so we should take advantage. He flew home at Ascot last time to finish fourth and should handle the ground. The Roger Charlton yard looks like it’s coming to the boil after a slow start to the season.
Sacred performed at a very high level throughout last season, locking horns with some of the best in the sprint division for the juveniles. She made a fantastic reappearance when winning at Newmarket and was only beaten four and a half lengths behind Mother Earth in the 1,000 Guineas. She missed an engagement recently due to the heavy ground – so a weather watch is advised. However, this trip seems absolutely ideal for her and she can put these in their place with a comprehensive success.
Some young trainers take a little while to find their feet when taking over the reins but Edward Bethell is absolutely flying. He seems to be churning out the winners and the Listed success of Fearby last time at Sandown was very impressive as he bolted up by five lengths not extended. This is another step up the ladder that he can take this in his stride. This trainer’s runners are always worth a second look.
This should be a ‘point and shoot’ exercise really for Poetic Flare. He has got a super tough constitution and a wonderful racing attitude that we saw when he won at the Royal meeting last time. The ground may not be ideal, but he travels strongly for Kevin Manning and they should be able to navigate conditions slightly better with his running style. He’s going to be short in the market but looks impossible to oppose for the mighty Jim Bolger outfit.

Flotus looked very good when winning at this course on her debut but has been disappointing in two runs since. She ran very freely in the early stages last time and Frankie Dettori came back and said she should definitely drop her back down to the minimum 5f trip next time. She gets that now and can start to repay those punters who have been piling in at short odds the last twice.
Prado will love all the rain that rain arrives and was unlucky not to hit the board last time out when only seventh in the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot over a mile. He steps up in trip now to 10f for trainer Charlie Hills and expect Jamie Spencer to creep away and let the race unfold up front before pouncing.
Sunset Breeze rattled off three wins on the bounce last season but has taken his time to get going this term. He didn’t look the most straightforward of rides at Newcastle but was only beaten on the line over 7f. He seems to have loads of ability and is worth siding with to get his head in front now.
