Chris Wall’s MOLLY SHAW was 3l clear of the third when chasing home a next-time-out winner at Lingfield last month so a 1lb rise is potentially lenient. Lightly raced 3yos G’daay (second choice) and The First Hurrah can give her most to think about.
Whether DASHING RAT is worth his BHA rating of 84 is debatable but he achieved enough when runner-up twice in May to suggest a race like this is within his grasp. Silver Kitten (second choice) and Unexpected Arrival look the obvious dangers.
There are possible flaws in his argument but SMOKEY MALONE seems to have a good opportunity given the lack of substantial form among his opponents. Hooves Like Jagger was runner-up on his penultimate start and these are early days as a handicapper for the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Jack Bean, so they are next on the list.
Although FEN TIGER was not far in front of several of today’s rivals in their C&D clash three weeks ago, he is the one with an upwardly mobile profile. Jeanette May may prove best of the others who contested that race but Baby Boo is lightly raced and upped in trip, so she is feared most. Myboymax also needs a mention thanks to his minor honours at Nottingham.
Listed company was a step too far for RABAT last time but she has a race like this in her based on her placed efforts on her first two starts. A market move for Media Blitz would make her a possible big threat now setting out for George Boughey, while Across The Nile was perhaps unsuited by heavy ground on her recent reappearance and has potential based on her AW second last autumn.

The one who stands out as a progressive sort in this line-up is CASTANA DIA (nap) who can go one better than at Newmarket back at the scene of her reappearance maiden win. Spirited Guest has a much better strike-rate on the AW but he has won over C&D and looks the main danger.
Party Rebel and Hostelry, preferred in that order, have the recent good handicap form but they are also maidens of a fairly long standing. Handicap newcomers Sense Of Humour, Forgotten Realm and MAAHI VE all need a close look and the last named might just prove the most potent judged on the promise she showed last year on the AW.
