NEW TO PADDY POWER?

16:25 LEOPARDSTOWN – CORVIGLIA

The benefit of experience, better ground conditions and hopefully a strong pace should see CORVIGLIA go close to winning this opener at Leopardstown on Thursday. Jessica Harrington’s filly wasn’t knocked about when making some headway late on to finish sixth on soft ground at Listowel last month. It was an educational debut with Shane Foley looking after the Niarchos owned filly in a race which has produced two subsequent winners.

Her pedigree suggests the better ground and slightly longer trip will be a positive with a further increase in distance likely in the future. She should represent value against more fancied rivals and a strong pace would be ideal for Dusty Foley to strike late in a field with plenty of debutants. Elsewhere, Heart To Heart was fancied on debut but has failed to win after three starts, while Kaliysta and Oblivate look the best of the newcomers for Dermot Weld and Joseph O’Brien.

17:00 LEOPARDSTOWN – PRETTIEST

Aidan O’Brien has a remarkable record in the Silver Flash Stakes having won this listed contest 11-times since 1997, which included success with Love in 2019. The Ballydoyle maestro is solely represented this year by PRETTIEST with Ryan Moore in the saddle following her fourth-place finish in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. Sandrine has enhanced that form since with Andrew Bailding’s filly recently securing another group success in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket.

Better ground shouldn’t be problem for Prettiest on pedigree with both her sire, Dubawi and dam, Alice Springs winning under good to firm conditions. Elsewhere, Juncture got the better of Seisai when winning her maiden for Ger Lyons here in Foxrock with Joseph O’Brien’s filly a subsequent winner at Gowran Park. It’s a good renewal with Prettiest the likeliest winner to extend Aidan O’Brien’s excellent record in this race and continue his good recent form.

17:10 LIMERICK – WHOSGOTYANOW

WHOSGOTYANOW won with plenty in hand at Kilbeggan recently and can quickly follow up in this Mares Rated Novice Hurdle for trainer Andrew Slattery. It was a comfortable front-running success under Cathal Landers with the drying ground bringing out an improvement in form following two-previous starts earlier this year. Elsewhere, there are some doubts over the suitability of the trip and ground for both Bennystiara and Lady Lingo.

Henry de Bromhead’s mare won nicely at Roscommon but has never raced on anything better than heavy, soft or yielding in the going description. Lady Lingo was a game winner at Navan but steps up in trip which might be a disadvantage here, with both Robyndeglory and Toor Moment looking the bigger dangers. However, I’m remaining hopeful that the lightly raced Whosgotyanow can improve further to win at a decent price in what looks a competitive contest.

18:00 LEOPARDSTOWN – AMORTENTIA

John Magnier and Michael Tabor have joined into a partnership with Stone Age, who runs in the colours of fellow owner and breeder, Peter Brant. The son of Galileo is out of Bonanza Creek, who was formerly trained by Luca Cumani and was bred by Brant’s White Birch Farm and went into training with Aidan O’Brien. Changingoftheguard is another son of Galileo trained by O’Brien but running in the colours of Georg von Opel’s Westerberg operation.

The German billionaire continues to cement an ever-increasing partnership with Coolmore and owns this juvenile in partnership with Magnier, Tabor and Derek Smith. However, I’m siding with barrier trial winner AMORTENTIA on his official debut, which is one of two runners in this 1-mile maiden for trainer Joseph O’Brien. The son of Caravaggio will hopefully represent value and should be better suited by a combination of the good to firm ground conditions and this distance for owner Sue-Ann-Foley.

19:00 LEOPARDSTOWN – PIERRE PRECIEUSE

The team at Rosewell House might have one eye on Galway, but there’s more races to be won before next week’s action in Ballybrit. It was good to see Dermot Weld bang in a few winners over the past week and the betting market should be a good guide to determine which of his two Moyglare fillies could strike in this maiden. I believe PIERRE PRECIEUSE ticks plenty of the right boxes here with the daughter of Kingman getting the verdict over stable-mate Tina Angelina.

Both the distance and lovely ground conditions should be ideal for her on pedigree, being a daughter of champion miler Kingman, with extra stamina provided on the dam side, out of Profound Beauty. Pierre Precieuse is bred in the purple and with Colin Keane riding, she can give Weld and his team another first-time out winner following Suwayra’s victory in good fashion here last week.
