Na Caith Tobac will be difficult to contain here, especially with a valuable 7lb claimed off his back, but LAYLA’S DAFFODIL appeals most with Paul Townend a notable booking. Lightly raced and open to any amount of improvement, her Down Royal third looks reasonably strong and a big run looks highly likely here. April’s Moon, Cullaghs Star and Secret Secret are others to bear in mind.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
15:48 Maricruz
The Dara Man ran a big race in second spot at Listowel and a similar display could well suffice here. Apple Crumble was impressive when winning a mares bumper at Punchestown and she is another one with strong looking claims, along with Aboutagout, but MARICRUZ could well have the measure of the lot of them. A recent winner at Navan, she had a lot on her plate on her only start so far over hurdles and will find a more suitable assignment.
16:23 Union Park
An open handicap and a few come into the race in form. Recent winner Youngnedofthehill, the consistent Shantou Warrior and Sweet Sixteen make plenty of appeal. Preference is for UNION PARK, who will be hard to beat here if reproducing his fine third to Call Me Dolly in a competitive handicap at Punchestown in May.
16:55 Persia
Both Asserted and Mars Harper come here on the back of maiden hurdle wins and Staging Post is respected, but PERSIA looks like an ever more decent recruit to novice hurdles and looks the one to beat.
17:25 Rain In Spain (NAP)
A number of these have solid chances, with Demi Plie one of those likely to make the market and others such as C&D winner Oscer Romero making a bit of appeal. The selection is RAIN IN SPAIN (nap) who continued her good form with a convincing success in a mares contest at Cork recently and ticks most of the boxes here.

17:55 Repeat That
A couple with sound enough claims here, notably the hat-trick chasing Chelseas Friend, Amlad and Rubiana, but perhaps none more so than REPEAT THAT. A gutsy winner at Bellewstown, he could well have what it takes to defy his 5lb hike in the books. Fainche is another possibility.
18:25 Galaxy Girl
The Bellewstown third Hockworthy Flyer has hit some nice form and will likely be tough to contain here, but at a bigger price one that appeals is GALAXY GIRL. Patrick Foley’s charge only beat one home over 2m at Wexford lately, but she was not far from the pace and she does seem to stay this longer test well enough. The run is likely to have her primed to perfection. Mickey Shea and Bigly are also of interest.
18:55 Lispendense
A weak contest and it would be no surprise if any of the newcomers proved good enough to have a chance. Rightful Mind is going the right way among those that have run, but this could well be at the mercy of LISPENDENSE if he can come close to the form of his Leopardstown run at Christmas.
