Native Choice has a similar profile and probably has more in the locker, while it would be no surprise to see James Moffatt’s Jelski pop up in a race like this here soon.

Most of these have question marks against them, so it’s worth siding with CRAIG STAR who showed he’s no back number at Uttoxeter on his return from an absence and now figures on a much-reduced mark. For Jim has scored twice this summer, including over course and distance, so is feared most if shrugging off a lesser effort at Perth and Snowy Burrows is considered too after a break.

PRESENTANDCOUNTING seemed to appreciate being allowed to stride on around halfway at Perth last time and may be able to dominate in this small field. No Comment ran well over hurdles here last time and can give him most to do now back chasing for the first time since a fall at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival.

LERMOOS LEGEND faces his stiffest test yet, but looked to have more in the locker when completing his Ffos Las hat-trick and is taken to extend his winning run at the chief expense of Tonto’s Spirit. He is bidding for a fifth course and distance success, and rates a big threat. Ballyvic Boru got no further than the first at Uttoxeter last time, but is normally a sound jumper and he is well worth a second look too.

DRESSEDFORSUCCESS made an impressive start in handicaps when easily landing a course and distance contest three weeks ago and there is more to come from him. He can defy a 10lbs rise up in class. Empire de Maulde, successful at Aintree last time, is next on the shortlist. Looksnowtlikebrian could also figure on his first visit to Cartmel if keeping the mistakes down.
17:15 Jackhammer
JACKHAMMER might be worth siding with back hurdling as he’s potentially very well treated off a mark in the mid-80s based on his Flat ability. Pateen, Mi Laddo, Two Blondes and in-form 12-year-old Snowed In are all big players too in a competitive affair.
