On the ratings, this race looks like it’s ORDER OF AUSTRALIA‘s to lose. He’s rated at 119 and he’s dropping back in class, having finished eight behind Palace Pier in the Queen Anne Stakes. Current Opinion is also in there. He loves Galway, so I’d be questioning if this is a blowout for the Galway Races for him as he hasn’t run since May. Meanwhile, Njord is just shy of Group class. He’s a pretty decent handicapper, but has just fallen short in this company. I can’t oppose Order Of Australia in this one.
I can’t skip over SINDHIA in this race. She won here at the Curragh on Irish Derby’s weekend and was very unlucky at Fairyhouse in a premier handicap on her last start behind Nebo. She missed the start that day, got caught in traffic and knocked about, but she was flying home at the end. I believe she will make amends for that here.
I fancied Create Belief at Royal Ascot and she beat Samoot there at a canter. But, it was starting to rain that day and I kind of wonder did she just handle the heavy ground much better than the opposition. I believe she did.
She could be hard to beat, but ANGEL POWER hasn’t been doing anything wrong either and Roger Varian sends her over for this Group 2 – a level she has campaigned at before. I know Create Belief was a good handicap winner, but it’s a big step up from handicap straight into Group 2.
