New to Paddy Power?

Lady Bowthorpe

Trainer: William Jarvis Jockey: Kieran Shoemark Age: 5

Beat several of these when coming out on top in the Dahlia on return before an excellent run behind Palace Pier in the Lockinge. Split Indie Angel and Queen Power at Royal Ascot and respected again.

Queen Power

Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa Age: 5

Pushed Lady Bowthorpe close in the Dahlia on her return before proving better than ever when landing the Middleton at York, storming clear. Looked tricky again in the Duke of Cambridge though.

Lavender’s Blue

Trainer: Amanda Perrett Jockey: Jim Crowley Age: 5

Successful return in listed contest at Kempton before a good run behind Lady Bowthorpe and Queen Power in the Dahlia. Not seen to best effect in cheekpieces in the Duke of Cambridge but more required.

Champers Elysees

Trainer: John Patrick Murtagh Jockey: Ben Martin Coen Age: 4

Progressed rapidly in 2020, completing 4-timer in Group 1 Matron at Leopardstown. Best run this term when well placed and fourth behind Indie Angel in the Duke of Cambridge last month. More needed.

Indie Angel

Trainer: John & Thady Gosden Jockey: Frankie Dettori Age: 4

Turned around the Dahlia form with a few of these when landing the Duke of Cambridge under a shrewd Dettori ride last month. Meets those 5-y-os on equal terms as well as some smart 3-y-os now.

Mother Earth

Trainer: Aidan O’Brien Jockey: Ryan Moore Age: 3

Enjoying a fine year, winning the 1000 Guineas from Saffron Beach then placed in the French equivalent and Coronation, Alcohol Free having flown by the time she hit full stride at Ascot. Big player.

Pretty Gorgeous

Trainer: Joseph Patrick O’Brien Jockey: S. M. Crosse Age: 3

Impressive as a 2-y-o, signing off with a comfortable success in the Fillies’ Mile. Plenty to find on her 2 runs this term though, fading behind Alcohol Free and co in the Coronation at Royal Ascot.

Snow Lantern

Trainer: Richard Hannon Jockey: Sean Levey Age: 3

Newbury maiden winner on return and took a huge step forward stepped up in class when splitting Alcohol Free and Mother Earth in the Coronation, staying on strongly. There is more to come from her.

Illykato

Trainer: Mick Channon Jockey: Ben Curtis Age: 3

Useful filly who won a listed contest at Goodwood in May but was easy to back and well beaten 8 weeks on at Carlisle. Impossible to fancy at this level.

Alcohol Free

Trainer: Andrew Balding Jockey: Oisin Murphy Age: 3

Cheveley Park winner who has improved further this year with victories in the Fred Darling and Coronation, getting first run but coming clear of Snow Lantern and Mother Earth at Ascot. Obvious claims.

Primo Bacio

Trainer: Ed Walker Jockey: Andrea Atzeni Age: 3

Highly progressive filly who quickened up in most impressive fashion to land 1m listed event at York at the Dante meeting, with odds-on Snow Lantern too free back in third. Could have more to offer.

Just Beautiful

Trainer: Ivan Furtado Jockey: Joey Haynes Age: 3

Unbeaten filly who scored on turf debut in listed event at Musselburgh last month, keeping on well. This extra distance should suit but she’s facing a whole different calibre of opposition here.

Saffron Beach

Trainer: Jane Chapple-Hyam Jockey: David Egan Age: 3

Suffered her first blip in the Oaks, perhaps not staying in the mud but worked up in any case. Everything before that very good, including a length defeat behind Mother Earth in the 1000 Guineas.
