Newmarket tips: Falmouth Stakes best bets from Paddy Power pundits

The Falmouth Stakes is the feature race on day two of the July Festival at Newmarket.

A total of 13 fillies and mares are set to go to post at 15:35 BST but who are Paddy’s pundits and tipsters backing to come out on top?

Paddy Desmond: “This is a brilliant race and sort of a rematch of the Coronation Cup, but it’s arguably better because there were a few non-runners that day, not least PRIMO BACIO, who was so impressive at York. There will be enough pace in the race and she wants a fast-run race. She also wants the ground fast and whatever rain is around won’t be enough to stop her.”

Jason Weaver: “LADY BOWTHORPE taken her form to another level this season and despite finishing behind Indie Angel last time at Royal Ascot, she can comprehensively turn that form around as she was racing on the slower part of the racecourse. I’m hoping Kieran Shoemark will hold her up a little more and get her to use that devastating turn of foot she possesses.”

Mick Fitzgerald: “The featured Falmouth Stakes sees Newmarket 1,000 Guineas winner MOTHER EARTH try to rediscover her winning form after placed effort in the French 1,000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes. Personally, I think Mother Earth revelled in the faster conditions on the Rowley Mile in May. With the ground back in her favour she may well rediscover that type of form again.”

Matt Chapman: “I’ll stick with the 1000 Guineas heroine MOTHER EARTH back on decent ground for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. The filly has ground to make up on Alcohol Free and Snow Lantern from the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot but that was run in heavy and she travelled well for a long way.”
