14:05 Cormier
Useful hurdler CORMIER won at Pontefract in May and there could still be plenty of mileage in his Flat mark based on his ability over jumps. Noble Masquerade won in first-time blinkers at Kempton last time and stands out as the chief threat. Bollin Joan arrives in career-best form, while Furzig is another who could go well.
NEW TO PADDY POWER
14:40 Declaring Love
The ex-Godolphin filly DECLARING LOVE has something to find today but she’s thrived since joining John Butler and the step back up to 6f could help her discover the necessary improvement. The step back up in trip should also suit the very lightly raced Dexter Belle and she is second choice. Fellow 3yos Dandalla, Light Refrain and Vadream could also play leading roles, although there is a slight doubt about the drop back in trip for Vadream. Topweight Final Song may bounce back to form with a big run if the ground dries out.
15:15 Eternal Halo
The well-bred filly ETERNAL HALO showed good speed when a promising fourth of five behind subsequent Royal Ascot winner Perfect Power on last month’s debut at Hamilton, and earns the vote today ahead of Jilly Cooper who won in good style at Hamilton on her second start. Bond Power and Cotai Class have also shown enough to suggest they can be in the mix.
15:50 War Leader (NAP)
The ex-Ballydoyle colt WAR LEADER (nap) has a tremendous pedigree and it remains to be seen where his limitations lie now that things have clicked. He’s been dominant the last twice and can land the hat-trick. The progressive Solent Gateway is second choice, while fellow 3yos A Boy Named Ivy and Carter Cowboy are respected along with sharp improvers Bollin Margaret and Sharpcliff.
16:25 Al Erayg
Cases can be made for all the Tim Easterby-trained runners and the pick of that squadron could be AL ERAYG, who is attractively weighted on some of last year’s form on ground softer than good and probably wasn’t ideally suited by the good to firm conditions when placed behind Tangled at Carlisle last month. Tangled has now won his last two and may provide the main threat. Others for the shortlist are Just Hiss, Duesenberg, Cassy O and Makeen.

17:00 Dapper Man
Plenty have possibilities but the vote goes to Roger Fell’s front-runner DAPPER MAN, who recorded his 12th turf win when battling well at Haydock last week and escapes a penalty for that success. Modular Magic resumed his progress with an impressive win at Ayr on his return and he’s feared most, ahead of A Pint Of Bear, who was a brave winner on his turf debut at Catterick last time. Militia looks the pick of Paul Midgley’s three runners, while another to consider is the very lightly raced Little Muddy, who surged clear in a novice last month and is open to more improvement on her handicap debut.
17:30 Outrun The Storm
Getting settled wasn’t a problem for OUTRUN THE STORM last year so there can be optimism he won’t be as fresh today as was the case on last month’s reappearance at Thirsk. Given he pulled hard he did well to finish fourth and can build on that performance. The step back up to 7f looks a positive for As If By Chance and he’s feared most, ahead of fellow handicap newcomer Wizard D’Amour. Candescence and Cosmos Raj bring consistent handicap form.
