York 13:45 – Ajyaall

I’m going for Ajyaall for William Haggas and James Sullivan. I thought he ran a really nice race in York over seven furlongs. It was his first run since October last year and he won two of his three starts in 2020. The York run was a nice pipe opener so Ajyaall will do me!

NEW TO PADDY POWER

Newmarket 14:05 – Kingmania

Samoot was well beaten by Create Belief at Ascot last month but when I look back through them and see Kingmania winning at Doncaster in June, having gone up from 66 to 72 to 80 and now to 86, it’s hard to turn her down. She ran really well at Doncaster and the 6lb rise isn’t going to stop her.

Jack Mitchell rode on that occasion and he retains the ride at Newmarket. Kingmania is improving and I don’t see her being stopped.

York 14:20 – Hukum

The best horse in this race is Fujaira Prince but it’s a worry that he hasn’t run since last October. Fitness could catch him out so that’s put me off backing him.

For that reason, I’m going to side with Hukum. I’d say he stayed on at Ascot behind Wonderful Tonight and Broome. I don’t think he’s quite a Group 1 horse and dropping down to a Group 3 will suit him. I fancy him to get the job done.

Newmarket 14:40 – Royal Fleet

I thought Royal Fleet looked like a superstar when winning at Yarmouth back in April. He’s won twice, so the handicappers are obliged to give him a rating. How you can put a rating on his run at Yarmouth? I don’t know! No one could tell his potential there. He’s been well-placed by Charlie Appleby. He doesn’t look like a handicapper but he’s got in off a really good mark and you can’t oppose him.

Ascot 15:00 – Tilsit

Sir Busker is a very admirable runner and I’m a big fan. He was ridden to run well at Ascot and he achieved his best possible finishing position. It’s a difficult race to call but I’ll side with Tilsit. He had a good run in Longchamp in May and he might have improved since turning four-years-old.

Tilsit is my pick but I’m not overly strong on it.

Newmarket 15:15 – Native Trail

Native Trail is my NAP of the weekend! I was really impressed with him at Sandown in June. I know the second Royal Patronage hasn’t run since, but that doesn’t dilute the Sandown run. I’ve watched replays of the others and Dhabab was unlucky in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, Great Max was a good third behind Point Lonsdale in the Chesham Stakes and Masekela ran in that as well. I just love the way Native Trail hit the line at Sandown and got quicker as the race went on.

Ascot 15:35 – Boundless Power (each-way)

Mondammej can often break slowly but on the straight at Ascot, he could do well. I thought Tis Marvellous ran well at Newbury in April but why hasn’t he ran since then? You immediately think there’s a problem or a little injury. The one I’ve landed on is Boundless Power, who won at Nottingham on his last start. He was previously trained in Ireland by John Feane and is now rated 89.

He’s going in the right direction and in an open-looking race, he’s my each-way play.

Newmarket 15:50 – Boardman (each-way)

I fancied Boardman  at Ascot but he let me down – but I’m sticking with him as an each-way shout. He was drawn on the far side at Ascot and it didn’t suit. He couldn’t possibly get involved from where he was. Seven furlongs suits him and I don’t think the handicapper quite has him in his grip yet. His form at Chester where he won in May looks solid and I’m going to forgive him for his Ascot flop.

Newmarket 16:25 – Creative Force and Rohaan

I’m split between Creative Force and Rohaan. Rohaan won the Wokingham off a rating of 112. He loves to come late and held off subsequent Commonwealth Cup winner (who was then disqualified) Dragon Symbol at Haydock As for Charlie Appleby’s Creative Force, I love the way he travelled when winning the 7f Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.  He drops back to 6f now but the July Cup is a very good race with a big field full of good sprinters.

York 16:40 – Que Amoro

Winter Power was at the front end of a ludicrous pace in the King’s Stand Stakes and I’m not sure it suited so her should run better now. I’m siding with Que Amoro for Paul Mulrennan and Michael Dods. She’s been a little out of form and ran poorly at Ascot behind Oxted, but she has good form at York. She’s worth a go.
