13:00 Navan – Daisy Peers

The eight-race card at Navan on Saturday begins with a competitive maiden where DAISY PEERS can get off the mark for Fozzy Stack and Joey Sheridan. The jockey takes off 5lbs and replaces Andrew Slattery who rides Special Power again for his father and namesake, Andrew Sr. Despite dropping down slightly in trip, the stiff finish here at Navan should suit the daughter of New Bay who finished ahead of several of these rivals when second to Elzaam Tales at Roscommon on debut.

She reversed the form with the Ger Lyons trained winner on her second start when finishing third to Relaxed Artist at Leopardstown. She comprehensively saw off both Joe Masseria and Alice Diamond in Roscommon and can pounce late up the hill here to claim victory. Special Power is clearly a danger and can improve on his third-place finish at Bellewstown, while Capitulation is another battling for a place now dropping down in distance for Adrian McGuinness.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:55 Limerick – Gin On Lime

This looks like a good opportunity for GIN ON LIME to continue her progression over fences for Henry de Bromhead, Robcour and Rachael Blackmore. The daughter of Doctor Dino raced nicely behind Minella Melody and Aramax over hurdles for Jessica Harrington before developing race-by-race over fences for de Bromhead. She dominated from the front to win easily among her own sex at Killarney before making all when beating Star Max at Wexford last month. Joseph O’Brien’s runner has subsequently finished second twice at Roscommon and Wexford and might have to settle for the same position once again this Saturday afternoon.

14:30 Limerick – Druid’s Altar

This looks a competitive Beginners Chase with DRUID’S ALTAR getting the verdict to improve for the step-up in trip here following his debut second over fences at Clonmel last month. Joseph O’Brien’s runner was a useful juvenile hurdler and put in a good jumping display before staying on after the last behind Arvico Bleu which suggests this extra three-furlongs looks a positive.

Elsewhere, Whatsnotoknow has plenty of experienced over fences and was once second to Franco De Port and was subsequently placed in graded company at Thurles in March. One Down is another who should improve for a debut second over fences, while Alice Avril receives plenty of weight and looks interesting on her Irish debut for Henry de Bromhead.

Racing At Limerick - Munster National Day 2018

15:20 Navan – Tazaral

TAZARAL caught the eye with an impressive maiden victory at Gowran Park last month and looks capable of improving further to land this 1-mile 2-furlong conditions race. The Dermot Weld trained gelding has a beautiful pedigree, by Fastnet Rock out of Tarana and looks the type who can progress much further this season. He travelled smoothly into the straight before kicking on to win easily in Kilkenny under a comfortable hands and heels ride by Colin Keane.

This stiff finish here at Navan will be a positive and it’s been an encouraging sign to see the Rosewell team have several winners this week at both Limerick and Leopardstown. Elsewhere, Matchless drops down in grade having recently acted as a Ballydoyle pacesetter in several big races. Ottoman Emperor looks a battling type for Johnny Murtagh following two game victories at Cork and Gowran Park, while Isle Of Sark returns having finished between Bolshoi Ballet and Kyprios earlier this year.

15:55 Navan – Baronial Pride

BARONIAL PRIDE is having a first run for new trainer Joseph O’Brien and Johne Murphy’s Thoroughbred Racing Syndicates and looks a very interesting runner in this apprentice handicap. The five-year-old was sold at Tattersalls mixed sale in February having formerly raced for Nick Bradley and Richard Fahey in the UK. All besides one of his last eight starts came at Newcastle and it’s interesting that the Piltown team has decided to race him beyond one-mile for the first time in his career.

Having been rated as high as 89 previously in the UK (October 2018), an opening Irish rating of 76 looks a nice starting point for success under Mikey Sheehy. Any market support would be any encouraging sign with the horse also entered at both Dundalk and Killarney next Monday and Tuesday. Elsewhere, Easily for Donnacha O’Brien looks the main danger with the Galileo filly returning quickly having shown enough in recent starts at Fairyhouse and Naas to go very close to victory.
