This is a brilliant race and the winner will need about 10lbs in hand of the handicapper to win and Inigo Jones might have that. He was third behind Mohaafeth at Newmarket in May and was only half a length behind Secret Protector, who was second that day. Secret Protector is now rated 107 and we all know what Mohaafeth did at Royal Ascot. Off 96 for Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore, Inigo Jones is a great bet at a decent price.
Cormier will probably be a short-price favourite as he’s only up 6lbs from his very easy win at Pontefract in May. The fact he was second in the Swinton Hurdle at Haydock off 130 means he’s probably well in off his Flat rating of 75. The ground could be soft too which will suit him perfectly.
This race is a bit of an Albany Stakes rematch but the ground will be different at Newmarket compared to Royal Ascot. Simon Crisford pointed out that even though Flotus won on soft ground, she will be much better on better ground and I wouldn’t give up on Flotus just yet. She looks a nice each-way bet to me.

I’m leaning towards the three-year-old’s and Vadream would be the one I’d side with most. She was third in the Jersey Stakes, sixth in the 1,000 Guineas and third in the Fred Darling behind the winner Alcohol Free and just ahead of Primo Bacio. It’s getting to the time of year when the three-year-old weight allowances start making a difference, so I’m going with Vadream.
East Asia has a chance but I’ll take Global Storm. We’ll be offering extra places in this race and it’s very likely that Global Storm will place at the very least.
This is a brilliant race and sort of a rematch of the Coronation Cup, but it’s arguably better because there were a few non-runners that day, not least Primo Bacio, who was so impressive at York. There will be enough pace in the race and she wants a fast-run race. She also wants the ground fast and whatever rain is around won’t be enough to stop her.
