13:15 Genesius
There are concerns regarding Pactolus (stamina over 1m4f) and Thermal (fast ground). Mahanakhon Power responded positively to the application of a visor when scoring over C&D recently and he merits respect for The Horse Watchers. However, there was also plenty to like about the way in which GENESIUS finished off after meeting trouble in running at Goodwood and he’s relatively low mileage under the expert tutelage of Sir Mark Prescott.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
13:45 Johnny Boom
This looks to be between the two impressive last-time-out winners JOHNNY BOOM and Cayman Moon. Both almost certainly have more in the tank, perhaps a great deal, but preference is for Johnny Boom who registered his win on turf.
14:20 Alflaila
An interesting contest with Maglev, Manaccan and Home City all noteworthy and Manettino already a 5f course winner. However, it’s very hard to look beyond the penalised ALFLAILA who was a most striking debut winner at Salisbury, form which has been given a significant boost since. He displayed a smart turn of foot inside the closing stages and will almost certainly be wiser with that initial racing experience in the bank.
14:55 Electric Love
Dark Side Prince still has time to come good on turf and he’s a contender, while Lorna Cole and Big Time Maybe also enter the reckoning. ELECTRIC LOVE looked well ahead of her mark when winning on her handicap debut here last week, though, and she can make light of her 6lb penalty.
15:30 Moorbik (NAP)
Back on fast ground preference is for MOORBIK (nap), who was nicely on top of Fiftyshadesofred when winning here in April. Fellow handicap debutant Storm Catcher could be the main threat after running so well in defeat under a penalty at Nottingham, while My Swallow won’t be far away if repeating his Chelmsford effort.

16:05 Semper Augustus
Ed Walker’s SEMPER AUGUSTUS was nicely on top at the finish at Newbury and a 4lb rise doesn’t look too damaging. Piselli Molli could be open to further improvement back on quicker ground and Coverham, although vulnerable to improvers off his mark, should also be in the mix.
16:40 Al Tarmaah
Topweight AL TARMAAH may not need to find a whole lot on last week’s Newmarket effort and there’s always the chance that the new blinkers might give him a lift. Lowndes Square is the second choice after his positive first run in handicap company, and Out Of The East also commands respect.
17:10 Epic Express
Most of these have something to prove. Rockesbury can at least boast recent winning form and he ought to go well back on turf, while Flibbertigibbet, Legende D’Art and Sceptred Isle have something to recommend them. EPIC EXPRESS hasn’t found his best form for this yard but the drop into Class 6 company will suit and he could also have a bigger run in him back on fast ground.
