17:15 Zumurud

Mark Walford’s ZUMURUD has remained in good form since last month’s Catterick win, and he had to wait for a gap to appear before running on well to take third off today’s mark in a big field at York two weeks ago. With useful 5lb claimer Laura Pearson enlisted here, he gets the nod. Trinity Lake went very close off today’s mark at Thirsk recently and is second choice, ahead of Trixie Waterbury.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

17:45 Millie Lou

After an encouraging debut here, MILLIE LOU didn’t handle the bend too well on Lingfield’s AW circuit before closing in on the runner-up Silver Kitten with the debutante Olimba well down the field. Richard Hannon’s filly can prevail this time.

18:15 Zaammit

This shouldn’t take much winning and ZAAMMIT has the potential to be a cut above his rivals, as would be hoped given his pedigree. He coasted home after getting knocked out of contention at Salisbury when travelling as well as anything. Himyan did all the damage that day and yet she still finished further back. The Balding horse did show ability on her debut and could still be next best unless either of the newcomers happens to be half decent.

18:45 Harmony Lil

It’s possible to construct a case for all seven of these, but the two fillies make the most appeal. Signora Princess has made a fine start to the season and should go well again but Thore Hammer Hansen’s 3lb claim sways the vote in favour of HARMONY LIL, who bumped into an improver at Bath. York runner-up Pockley is third choice.

19:15 Global Warning

The answer to a very competitive handicap might be GLOBAL WARNING, who has benefited greatly from the switch to sprinting. Prior to an excusable defeat at Goodwood when fluffing the start, he finished hot on the heels of the Wokingham runner-up in a deep handicap at Ascot. Dave Dexter could go on to better things for Roger Fell and is next best, ahead of Wentworth Falls and yesterday’s in-form winner Giogiobbo.

19:45 Casilli

All have something to prove, most of them a lot to prove. The most solid option is probably CASILLI who underperformed last time but that was a hat-trick bid and soft ground may well excuse it. Sobriquet travelled well to 3f out in a 1m2f maiden at Sandown two weeks ago on her first run for three months, so with a bit of potential she is second on the list. Lady Reset has a good strike-rate on the Flat turf, so perhaps her selling-race win understates the form she can achieve.

20:15 Going Underground (NAP)

Steel An Icon has no penalty for Thursday’s win at Nottingham and she was always repelling her pursuers there. However, her bid for a five-timer can be foiled by GOING UNDERGROUND (nap), who made a nice handicap debut at Windsor and, in keeping with the majority from within his yard, he can be expected to progress with his work. Qawamees gave notice at Haydock that he’s ready to win again soon.
