The Archie Watson-trained LAST HOORAH was a close second on his recent debut at Leicester and holds leading claims on that evidence. Liamarty Dreams was also a promising second on his debut, when outpaced mid-race at Carlisle, and he could be sharper for that run. He is feared most, ahead of Fast Style who could be a big improver on this second start. Keep Me Happy is another who could leave the bare form of her debut run well behind.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
13:35 Strongbowe (NAP)
The most obvious answer is STRONGBOWE (nap), who has only recently been reinvented as a sprinter but was firmly in command in the closing stages at Thirsk nine days ago and is slightly ahead of the handicapper under a penalty here. Triggered and Gilt Edge also come here after last-time-out wins but the main danger to the selection could be Coase, who started off for David O’Meara with two encouraging runs this month and ought to be at concert pitch now.
14:10 Fast Steps
Injazati will be very dangerous if able to build upon his highly promising debut but his second run was a shade disappointing and the one to beat is FAST STEPS, who won a good novice race at Epsom in April and ought to be seen to even better effect over today’s longer trip. Diavolo weakened right out of contention on his debut but the ground was soft that day and he’s likely to pose a more sustained threat here.
14:45 Taraashoq
Ayr winner Tribal Art probably has more improvement to come but he may find it hard to concede his penalty to TARAASHOQ, who made a very promising seasonal debut when fifth 17 days ago in what has already turned out to be a strong Leicester maiden. Noble Patron can also feature if back at his best, while the Godolphin newcomer Mo’assess looks quite interesting.
15:20 Matamua
Dickens and Distinction probably won’t be far away but the one with most potential could be MATAMUA, who was second in a recent C&D maiden and now makes her handicap debut. Zhang Fei finished only sixth of seven on his handicap debut but is dropped significantly in grade today and may provide the main threat to the selection.

15:55 Triple Jaye
Today’s drop back to 5f should suit Refuge, who has been shaping very much as though he can win again soon, but slight preference is for the 3yo filly TRIPLE JAYE, who was a good second in first-time cheekpieces at Ripon recently and, after only six runs, still has some potential. Boudica Bay can also feature, while Hollie Doyle is a good booking for Bellevarde.
16:30 Stormin Norman
In a competitive race for the grade the suggestion is STORMIN NORMAN, who made good progress last year and looked unlucky not to win off today’s mark at Ripon three weeks ago. Steel An Icon moves up in trip after winning her last three races and is earmarked as the main danger but Galidermes and Ghadbbaan also have appealing profiles, while handicap debutant Snowalot contested two useful AW novice races this spring and is open to improvement.
