Denise Foster’s runner Corran Cross shaped with much more promise than the bare form suggests when sixth on his latest outing and is another to consider.

13:30 Hasankey

He doesn’t have a chasing pedigree but HASANKEY took well to fences and ran a very big race in defeat behind a rejuvenated (and very well handicapped) course specialist at Cartmel last month. If he’s in similar form here, he can overcome a 4lb rise. Thisonesforollie is 0-17 over fences but comes here after two good efforts and is feared most. Schmidt is next on the list.

14:00 Wise Coco

Alistair Whillans’ mare WISE COCO is well handicapped on her form from last summer/autumn and gave a good account when placed here last month after a break. She gets the nod. Billy The Squid and Balranald have been knocking on the door in recent months but both remain maidens over hurdles and a bigger threat to the selection may emerge from Malangen, who ran quite well over 2m here recently and can do better now back up in trip.

14:35 Amalfi Doug

The oldest runner in the field AMALFI DOUG collected a good prize off a 6lb higher mark over C&D last September and his recent fifth over an inadequate 2m4f here suggested he might be coming back to the boil. Licklighter has done well since joining Laura Morgan and is earmarked as the main danger.

15:10 Smart Getaway (NAP)

Pammi ran well in defeat over C&D two weeks ago and is still on a good mark but lightly raced mare SMART GETAWAY (nap) proved she retains ability when second after a long absence in April and could have significant untapped potential over today’s longer trip. Lissen To The Lady didn’t fire on her latest outing but, on a line through the horse that beat Pammi here recently, she could still be well handicapped after her win two starts ago.

15:45 Millarville

The most appealing option is MILLARVILLE, who went down fighting at Cartmel three weeks ago and remains very well handicapped on older form. Hitman Fred gained the second of his two chasing wins over this C&D and is second choice, ahead of chasing debutante Sketrick.

16:15 Grey Girly

This is a step up in grade for GREY GIRLY but she opened her hurdling account over C&D two weeks ago and gets the verdict in the hope she can use that success as a springboard. It’s hard to know what to expect from Elusive Rebeldom after last month’s very disappointing handicap debut but he looked very promising when winning a Punchestown maiden in early 2020 and remains very unexposed. Ginistrelli didn’t fire on the Flat last time but his current hurdle mark ought to be workable.
