17:50 – Sanitiser

SANITISER showed much-improved form to get off the mark at Windsor two weeks ago, hitting the front over a furlong out and keeping going well to win by two and a half lengths. He remains open to more improvement, especially now stepping up to seven furlongs. This looks a good opportunity for him to follow up under a penalty before trying his luck in a higher grade.

18:23 – Yanifer

YANIFER took a big step forward when second at Salisbury on Sunday, losing out by just half a length and pulling another six lengths clear of the third. He can race from the same mark here and should mount a bold bid if arriving in the same sort of form. He may yet have even more to offer on just his sixth start and second on turf.

18:53 – Perfect Winter

PERFECT WINTER came clear of the rest when second on her debut at Kempton in November 2019, showing fairly useful form in the process. Her absence since then suggests she hasn’t been the easiest to train, but there is no doubt she is the most talented horse in this race if retaining all her ability. She can open her account for the Saeed bin Suroor yard which has an impressive 25% strike rate at Chelmsford in recent seasons.

19:23 – Pistoletto

PISTOLETTO arrives here on a losing run stretching back to May 2019, but he has been running well recently and produced his best effort since joining John Ryan (formerly trained by Aidan O’Brien) when third at Goodwood last time. He was beaten just a neck on that occasion and can race from the same mark here, with Ray Dawson, who is good value for his 3 lb claim, also taking over in the saddle. He is fancied to gain a deserved victory now back on the all-weather.

19:53 – Montather

MONTATHER achieved a useful level of form last season, producing his best effort when third in a strong novice event at Newmarket. He now makes the switch to handicaps after 345 days on the sidelines and will command plenty of respect from an opening BHA mark of 94. After all, he remains with potential after only three starts, while the manner of his debut victory at this course suggests the step up to 1¼m will also be in his favour.

20:23 – Conscious

CONSCIOUS showed a good attitude to regain the winning thread at Kempton last week, digging deep under pressure to land the spoils by half a length. Interestingly, he can race from a 2 lb lower mark here thanks to some shrewd campaigning, so it goes without saying that he is potentially very well treated if running up to his best after only seven days off.

20:53 – Carbon Positive

CARBON POSITIVE was well backed and duly showed improved form to gain a first success at Brighton last month, proving well suited by the step back up in trip. He was in front virtually from the start and found plenty when challenged inside the final furlong, just doing enough to get the verdict by a neck. He is only 1 lb higher in the weights this time and should remain competitive.
