Day two and the action comes thick and fast.

14:30 Twilight Gleaming

The American two-year-olds have a strong advantage in five furlong races as they are so quick out of the gates and then seem to last home. TWILIGHT GLEAMING was like a rocket out of the stalls and won very easily when winning at Belmont on fast ground. she sets a good standard here. Desert Dreamer is interesting at a price as champion jockey Oisin Murphy is an eye-catching jockey booking.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

15:05 Taipan (each-way)

Wordsworth arrives on the back of a narrow defeat at Navan, but had won a maiden at the Curragh  easily in the hands of Ryan Moore. Last year he finished second to High Definition on soft ground so lots of reasons to think this could be yet another winner in this race for Aidan O’Brien.

However, a few of these could be improvers and TAIPAN is one for Jessie Harrington. She has reached for the blinkers for this son of Frankel, but you’ll have to forgive him his run in the Gallinule Stakes on soft ground last time. If you forgive him that run his form  behind Bolshoi Ballet is not bad and could be worth an each-way interest in an open contest.

15:40 Queen Power

There was not a lot between Lady Bowthorpe and QUEEN POWER at Newmarket in May and the latter has improved from that run as she showed when winning easily at York. That may be good enough to get us in the winners’ enclosure now.

16:20 Love

Lord North will be very popular with punters with Frankie Dettori riding this son of Dubawi and he looked very good when winning at Meydan in March. He won this last year and ticks a lot of boxes.

Armory is really interesting and he won very nicely in the Huxley Stakes at Chester and finished second in the Cox Plate in Australia so does not mind travelling. However, both are up against a superstar filly in LOVE who was so good last year when winning the Oaks at Epsom and the Yorkshire Oaks after that. She may be too good for either of them.

17:00 Cliffs Of Capri (each-way)

CLIFFS OF CAPRI is a very strong traveller and showed he gets the mile when winning a good handicap at Meydan last year. He also ran very well in an apprentice handicap at Ascot on quick ground and could sneak into a place in what is a very tricky handicap to solve.

17:35 Ruthin

Another American trained runner who should fly from the gates over the minimum 5f trip. They get out so quickly from the stalls they can build up an advantage from the start and it’s hard to catch them. RUTHIN will take a lot of stopping as he was so impressive winning at Keenland. Wesley Ward also trains Golden Bell who is another to be feared and could run well.

18:10 Declared Interest

Dreamloper was a short-head second to Lights On at Ascot in May on slow ground and won here last September with DECLARED INTEREST just over two lengths back in third. Dreamloper has gone up 11lbs to a rating of 96 now while Declared Interest runs off 89. He’s won his last two starts and Ralph Beckett has his team in good form.
