17:30 Mezzanotte

MEZZANOTTE has shown fair form to hit the frame on both her starts to date, including when filling the runner-up spot at Lingfield two weeks ago. She was beaten just a neck on that occasion, only losing out close home after racing prominently for much of the way. That form puts her right in the mix in this novice event, so she rates a confident selection to get off the mark when you factor in her scope for more improvement.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

18:05 Desert Dream

DESERT DREAM produced his best effort since joining this yard when third at Catterick last month, sticking to his task well to be beaten less than a length. That represented a big step back in the right direction, and there is no doubt he is a well-handicapped horse judged on the pick of his form from earlier in his career. Mark Crehan, who is good value for his 3 lb claim, also takes over in the saddle, so he looks to have plenty in his favour in a wide-open contest.

18:40 Motagally

MOTAGALLY shaped as if retaining all his ability after eight months off when fourth in a listed race at Haydock last time, doing well to finish as close as he did after a slow start. He is a borderline smart sprinter on his day, as he showed when easily defying a BHA mark of 96 at Bath in September. He is likely to be closer to that form with his reappearance under his belt and looks to hold solid claims on paper, especially as he receives weight from each of his four rivals.

19:10 Crane

CRANE had plausible excuses when well held at Yarmouth last time, finding himself isolated towards the far rail from his low draw. He had shaped well before that when fifth on his reappearance at Redcar, showing enough to suggest he is on a fair mark, and the handicapper has even cut him some slack since then. Still relatively lightly raced, he has a useful pedigree and is well worth another chance to resume his progress.

19:40 Motorious

MOTORIOUS shaped as if the run would bring him on when fifth on his return at Nottingham, briefly making some headway after a slow start before his effort flattened out in the final furlong. That form is working out well, with the second and fourth both winning next-time-out. By contrast, this looks a relatively weak race on paper, so Motorious is fancied to improve past the battle-hardened Yukon Mission to open his account at the third attempt.

20:10 Act Of Magic

ACT OF MAGIC has been running consistently since joining the John Mackie yard, proving at least as good as ever when beaten just a length into third at Thirsk last time. He can race from the same mark here and is versatile in terms of trip, so the drop back to 1¼m is unlikely to be an issue. He appeals as the most solid option in a race where most of his rivals arrive with questions to answer.

20:40 Love Your Work

LOVE YOUR WORK shaped better than the bare result when sixth on his most recent outing at Ayr, simply getting going too late after being forced to switch entering the final two furlongs. Still beaten less than four lengths, he is 2 lb lower in the weights here and should prove well up to winning a race of this nature when everything falls right.
