It will be interesting to see if the money comes for Gena again after disappointing when favourite on debut for new connections last time.

The mare HIDDEN SPARK is clearly thriving and given that she usually runs well at this venue, as seen in her career best C&D run on Monday, she could take the beating. Storm Elza returned to form last time and similar can be said for No Show who posted an eyecatching effort at Naas in April.

A couple of well handicapped sorts are lurking in this but SUMMER’S DREAM (nap) looks like a solid option after her course and distance win on Monday and first-time cheekpieces might help eke out a bit of improvement. Shona Mea is another who may benefit from headgear and she will be suited by the return to 1m. Gregory’s Gift is still a maiden but he’s starting to look like his turn may be near.

Providing he is forward enough on his seasonal return, and his new yard is in fine form right now, CORMORANT looks the one to beat with trip and ground to suit and race conditions ensuring he carries no penalty for last year’s Derby Trial win. Georgeville needs to recapture his old form and reappears for new connections, while Baton Rouge looks the best of the classic generation.

It’s hard to oppose VARIO who sets a very solid standard on her Listed fourth on debut last year and she’s a likely improver up in trip. Woodland Garden is likely to be the main danger if she finds any improvement for more of a stamina test here.

Sincerest was sixth at Limerick yesterday but if turning out here will be of major interest given the way her Roscommon race is working out. However, in her absence it could pay to side with MODDY POODLE, who got this trip well at Leopardstown in a race also working out well. Top-weight Always Waitin is another to consider.
