With improvement likely from his Kilbeggan run FAKIR D’ALENE may be good enough. Jordan Gainford’s 4lbs claim is a significant asset, while the very capable Hugh Morgan takes 2lbs off likely danger Old Durham Town. Silvertown and Tecumseh Sherman boast fair form, and Pennywell Girl has run well over fences lately.
It may be worth taking a chance with WASDALE PARK, whose second at Limerick in December indicates maiden-winning potential. He had an excuse for a subsequent Clonmel flop and may uphold Limerick running with Hardwired, below-par then and worth considering on the balance of form. Mr Caplan should be better for his comeback run and should be taken seriously.
Hard to rule out any of these, but perhaps APRILS JOY can build on a good Cork run in a Flat handicap over a trip short of her best. Paddy O’Hanlon’s 7lbs claim will take some of the sting out of the weight rise incurred by Shopping Around for last month’s course win. An Taibhse could bounce back after a disappointing run on her handicap debut at Wexford.
Plenty in with chances, but top-weight LONGACRE SQUARE has the tools to build on his recent course victory. He is marginally preferred over Cousin Harry, who was well held on his only previous start around here when things didn’t fall right for him, and the consistent Jazz Ranger. It wouldn’t be a shock if Rocky Court showed up well at a decent price.
There’s a good chance for SCHONE AUSSICHT to double her tally in this sphere after running out a comfortable winner at Limerick last month. Imperial Sachin’s is unexposed and should give her most to think about, while Copia Verborum could be on the premises at the death.
This looks a good opportunity for GRINN (NAP), providing it does not come too soon after her vastly-improved display when second at Roscommon five days ago. The long-absent Impressive Duke is well handicapped relative to his chase form and should be closely monitored in the betting.
The four-year-old Sea The Stars filly SECRET SEA looks well enough treated for her first handicap after finishing a close second in a Wexford maiden. Fassbender rates a threat on his Wexford second though the ground was heavy on that occasion. Maria Francesca and Master Cornwall, both of whom make a long journey from Cork, could also feature.
This doesn’t look the strongest of bumpers to round off the card and CARRIGMOORNA ELM could be able to put the experience of her debut to good use, seemingly expected to show up well on that occasion. Shesdoenwell is another with potential to improve, though newcomers Brog Ban Espana and Rigmarole are possibly more interesting.
