Chester 13.40 – Rebel At Dawn

ITV Racing coverage Saturday starts here with this handicap over five furlongs. REBEL AT DAWN is up 4lb for a recent win at Nottingham but should bounce off the decent ground for Karl Burke and Richard Kingscote. Stall three should not be a hindrance as he should get a good lead from Virginia Plane and then I’m hoping he will be too classy. His third at Newmarket was a fine effort before the victory.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

York 14.00 – Byron Flyer

This is a handicap company over one mile and four furlongs for female amateur jockeys. The best days of BYRON FLYER are probably behind him at the age of ten, but he stays well and is now well handicapped so maybe this is winnable for Ian Williams. The biggest help comes from the jockey booking of Serena Brotherton. She is a real bonus and it doesn’t look the toughest of handicaps.

Sandown 14.15 – Atalis Bay

Listed company for three year old’s over five furlongs now. Hard to get away from ATALIS BAY here for Marco Botti and Andrea Atzeni. The two Italians should take all the beating with the son of Cable Bay, who has won four of his eight starts and was a fine second to Winter Power at York last time. The latter is now a big hope for Royal Ascot next week and a victory here for Atalis Bay would be a big boost.

York 14.35 – Admirality

Now we go over seven furlongs for another handicap. This is wide open and tough to find the winner. ADMIRALITY is no good thing and is not that well handicapped for Roger Fell and Jason Hart. That said this seven furlong race should be ideal and he has a nice draw. A seventh at York a few runs ago off a higher mark in a huge field suggests he might be able to cope here so a few quid each way.

Sandown 14.50 – Latest Generation

A handicap over one mile here but it’s a tough heat to call. LATEST GENERATION did not show much on his comeback race at Newbury but that was over a mile and a quarter and I have a feeling he will enjoy a drop in trip. He looked promising as a juvenile for the Crisfords and should give James Doyle a good ride. He’s been dropped 2lb for that poor comeback run.

York 15.05 – Ranch Hand

A Listed race here over the staying trip of one mile and six furlongs. RANCH HAND has finished a good sixth in an Ebor at York and with a BHA rating of 108 should take plenty of beating. He has been in good form this season and with the opposition far from deep I expect him to score for Andrew Balding and the champion Oisin Murphy. The trip is fine and could make all.

Chester 15.20 – Love Is Golden

Another handicap here but this time over an extended one mile and four furlongs. LOVE IS GOLDEN might be able to make all here for Mark Johnston and Franny Norton. The trainer sets a poser with a number of runners, but my hope was a good winner at this track on seasonal debut and stays on the same mark of 85 after getting beat but running well at Goodwood last time. Has every chance.

York 15.40 – Dark Shift

A sprint handicap this time over six furlongs. Very tough to sort out! I’m tempted to have a few quid each way on DARK SHIFT for Charlie Hills and Danny Tudhope, although after declaration stage it was the other Hills runner Jadwal that was being supported. Dark Shift has done little wrong and stayed on well in a pretty big field at Nottingham to score last time. Hard to know whether his mark of 88 is lenient or not. But he should give us a shout. So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
