Admirable Lad and Priscilla’s Wish come here on the back of a win and may have more to come, but it’s hard to get away from BERRTIE. He bolted up at Chelmsford last week and is well ahead of the assessor despite the penalty. Heer’s Sadie may prove best of the rest.
Toplight has managed to win a race so has to enter calculations, while Thomas Daniell has been threatening and both Breezyandbright and Beryl The Peril can do better. The drop into a 0-55 could see KODI GOLD finally deliver on his early promise, and he is marginally preferred.
Ajrad and Show Yourself have the best form, but both look vulnerable to anything progressive. Pagan shaped better at Doncaster on his reappearance and retains potential, but AYLESFORD picked up very strongly when the penny dropped on his only two-year-old run and he could take a significant step forward today.
Celestial Point has bolted up in her two runs this season and still looks ahead of the handicapper. Her stamina for this new trip isn’t copper-bottomed though, and she’s up against a couple of interesting rivals.
Hesperis is bred to be much better than this mark and can take a step forward now handicapping over middle distances, but BEAT THE STORM‘s latest course and distance third looks a solid effort for the grade and a repeat might suffice.
Aria Rose looks good for another solid effort but the handicapper has had his say and GIFT OF KINGS, who ran well for his new yard on the all-weather recently, could be that bit better treated on some promising efforts last year, with Laura Pearson taking off a handy 5lbs.
Morlaix should find this ground more suitable than the soft surface he failed to cope with on his turf debut and may be the main danger though it’s too soon to rule out Hint Of Stars on turf.
Ariel is the obvious starting point given he’s chasing a hat-trick and is ahead of the handicapper under a penalty, but this will demand more of him. MIGHTY POWER remains capable of better and looks a good alternative.
This looks trappy with most of the field having something to prove on one count or another. Bearwith looks the solid option on the back of a better showing at Brighton last week, but there are potential improvers in opposition. Amalfi Salsa and Mindspin fit that bill, but so does PISELLI MOLLI and she could prove the answer now upped to 1m for her turf debut.
Bythebay was held over 6 furlongs on his stable debut, but the run wasn’t without promise and he can contend in this lower grade. Wolflet is another class-dropper who can’t be discounted, but HI HO SILVER (NAP) made an encouraging return to action here in April and can gain a second course and distance success.
