Tuesday June 15
Tuesday 14:30: The Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1) – Palace Pier
Palace Pier looks a good thing. He’s ground versatile and pretty straight forward. The Revenant beat him here in the QEII on Champions Day but that was down to very soft ground and Palace Pier also lost a shoe in the race.
Tuesday 15:40: The King’s Stand Stakes (Group 1) – Battaash
Battaash won this well first time out last year and I’m sure connections will be keen for him to join greats like Sole Power by becoming a dual winner of the race! Last season was very straightforward for him and I could see him going off quite a short price.
New to Paddy Power?
Tuesday 16:20: The St James’s Palace Stakes (Group 1) – Lucky Vega
Lucky Vega has only won twice, but one of those was the Group 1 Keenland Stakes. He was only just beaten in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and finished fourth in the Irish equivalent. He’ll almost certainly be better on better ground and he can turn the form around with Poetic Flare.
Wednesday June 16
Wednesday 16:20: The Prince of Wales’s Stakes (Group 1) – Armory
Armory looked really impressive to me in how he won the Huxley Stakes at Chester and I’ll be siding with him for that reason. Lord North fairly hosed up in this last year though and will be hard to beat.
Thursday June 17
Thursday 16:15: The Gold Cup (Group 1) – Emperor Of The Sun
Stradivarius is definitely not improving so I’m looking for a changing of the guard in the staying division and I’m giving a decent chance to Emperor Of The Sun at a price. He was very impressive at Leopardstown over one mile and six furlongs and who knows how much improvement the step up in trip might bring.
Friday June 18
Friday 15:40: The Commonwealth Cup (Group 1) – Supremacy
I’m choosing to forgive Supremacy‘s disappointing trial for this in April. It was so bad that it clearly wasn’t his true running. If you put a line through that, he should be one of the favourites for sure.
Friday 16:20: The Coronation Stakes (Group 1) – Potapova
Potapova pulverised the field in her two races to date. They weren’t exactly Ascot standard but she really could be anything for Michael Stoute. At a decent price, she’s worth chancing.
