The most obvious answer is YAGAN, who was always doing enough to fend off the clear second at Bath on Friday and now bids to complete a quick hat-trick. Well-bred handicap debutant Keeper is open to any amount of improvement and will be feared if strong in the betting.

Lunar Shadow could benefit significantly from the combination of a drop in grade and step up in trip today, and is a more speculative option to consider.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:15 Super Proud

The top three on the shortlist are the interesting handicap newcomers SUPER PROUD, Quintessa and Meisterzinger in that slight order of preference. That order may need to be reconsidered depending on how they go in the betting. Prey For Glory, The Vegas Raider and Golden Claim are major players among those who already have handicap form.

14:45 Tie A Yellowribbon

This modest event provides a good chance for TIE A YELLOWRIBBON, who made a very encouraging seasonal debut on turf ten days ago and is only 2lbs higher than when winning on Polytrack at Chelmsford last October. The veteran Steal The Scene is better than he showed when tried in a visor last time and is second choice, ahead of Trepidation.

15:15 Kingsholm

KINGSHOLM has some potential for improvement this season, but we haven’t seen him since October and a bigger threat to the selection may come from Strong Power, who is back on his last winning mark.

15:45 Adaay To Remember

It’s easy to spot the appeal of first-time-out winner Exuding but it might pay to oppose her with ADAAY TO REMEMBER, who ran very well behind a very useful rival when second at Nottingham last month and could quite plausibly be seen to even better effect on today’s faster ground.

16:15 Sir Randolph

Sagittarius showed more than enough to suggest he can win a race of this nature when third at Wolverhampton 12 days ago and is respected. But, an interesting alternative is William Buick’s mount SIR RANDOLPH, who shaped with significant promise when fifth at Salisbury last month. Adaaydreambeliever is next on the list.

16:45 Haveoneyerself

Shecandoo came good in a first-time visor on Polytrack here in April and could still have untapped potential, but we can’t be sure she’ll be suited by today’s return to turf. Preference is for HAVEONEYERSELF, who was behind Starchant when third over course and distance on soft ground last month

He has slipped to a tempting mark and ought to be seen to better effect on today’s quicker surface. Louis Treize is also well handicapped, while Katherine Place has very obvious each-way claims.
