There’s a nice variety of racing action to enjoy this Monday and I’ve spotted a few horses that I fancy to make up a Trixie. Best of luck if you’re playing, but remember to always keep it fun and only bet with money you can afford to lose.
The first thing I noticed when looking through Monday’s cards was the fact that Ryan Moore is heading to Leicester after his disastrous weekend, where he failed to even place on the Epsom Derby and Oaks favourites Bolshoi Ballet and Santa Barbara.
He actually hasn’t ridden a winner in the last two weeks, and he’s lost on the last eight favourites he’s ridden. I’m a great believer in the laws of averages and Moore certainly is well overdue a win. He has a few interesting rides on the card and I expect him to bounce back with a bang this Monday at Leicester. HIGHEST GROUND drops out of Group 3 company and with a first-time tongue tie applied, Sir Michael Stoute colt is my first pick in the Monday Trixie.
It’s a Bank Holiday in Ireland and Dermot Weld has a few interesting entries on the card. Weld teamed up with Colin Keane to land a 34/1 double at Listowel on Saturday and of his entries on a very interesting card, SUNNIYRA catches my eye.
I always grind my teeth at race comments that read “tenderly handled” and this was scripted on Sunniyra’s effort last time out. She was staying on despite Keane’s kid gloves when beaten 12 lengths at Navan on May 30 and improvement looks highly likely with a first-time visor applied here.
My third pick for my Monday punt is LICENCE, again at the Co Kilkenny track. He is a newcomer from the Ger Lyon’s stable that is bred to be a star. This son of Frankel, out of a dual Group 1 winner in the States, should be ready to do the business on his belated debut.
