With all the talk about who is in or out of the England squad this week, it was only natural that we at Paddy Power News would build a squad of our own for Oaks day at Epsom on Friday! Thankfully, we didn’t have to agonise for as long as Gareth Southgate on who to put in, because we already knew which fab five could bring it home.
All were as delighted as Trent Alexander-Arnold (get well soon Trent) when they got the call to say they’d made the final cut, so Matt Chapman, Mick Fitzgerald, Jason Weaver, Frank Hickey and the racing boffins of Timeform are ready to roll!
As usual our team don’t shy away from tackling the big calls, including for the day’s feature The Epsom Oaks at 16:30 and three of fantastic fivesome are all firmly in the SANTA BARBARA camp to claim the biggest prize on the day.
Our pundits are almost in agreement about backing the William Haggas-trained IRISH ADMIRAL in the Class 2 handicap at 14:35, and with Tom Marquand onboard, it’s hard to argue with them. The Coronation Cup (15:10) also sees Timeform, Mick Fitzgerald and Frank all throw their money behind another Haggas horse in the form of AL AASY.
Elsewhere, BLUE CUP for David Menuisier has tickled the fancy of the majority of our pundits in the handicap at 15:45 just before the main event of the day.
