13:15 The Retriever

Viva Voce has yet to face anything other than testing ground on turf but he’s a course winner who comes here in form so he has to be taken very seriously. Bankawi shouldn’t be judged too harshly on her latest run at Ayr and she’s a contender, while Under Your Breath needs a market check on her handicap debut and Curfewed could have a big run in him back into Class 6 company. THE RETRIEVER has yet to match his AW form on turf but his latest Hamilton run, when faced with an inadequate trip, did offer some hope that he could win races on the grass. The return to 1m will be in his favour and he’s only 1lb higher than for a facile Southwell success in April.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:45 Lead Story

Cometh The Man can bounce back from a low-key run last month and he’s respected, while Arthur Norse, Time For A Good Un, Merry Secret and Lochnaver are all worth a second look. LEAD STORY made a promising turf debut at Doncaster though and she may prove the answer.

14:20 Silken Petals

There are some interesting newcomers on show, notably Lady Of Yapham, Winter Siege and Almohandesah, and the betting should provide clues. The standard set by SILKEN PETALS looks a useful one though and she can go one better than on her very promising Kempton debut last month.

14:55 Fast Response

David O’Meara saddles a couple of likely types in Zwift and Ruby Red and the betting should be revealing. Heidi High should improve for her debut now upped to 6f but there are some interesting newcomers on show, notably Kentucky Rose and FAST RESPONSE. The latter is marginally preferred.

15:30 Ballintoy Harbour (NAP)

Restless Endeavour might prove the pick of the older horses but there are some interesting 3yos on show and BALLINTOY HARBOUR (nap) looks the pick. Her 2yo form was solid and her stylish reappearance win at Newcastle in April suggested she could develop into a very useful sprinter this season. Blackberry and Noorban both have something to recommend them too.

16:05 Charging Thunder

A trappy event in which Coquette, who boasts the best form, starts out for her new stable on the back of a 344-day absence. She’s a contender, along with Berry Edge and Sarrood, but CHARGING THUNDER may be the answer. David O’Meara’s 3yo did plenty wrong when third at Ripon on his debut but there was clear promise in the run and he faces nothing of the winner’s calibre in this field. He could take a big step forward.

16:35 Olympus

Carn A Chlamain is solid after a couple of good runs over this trip, notably when bumping into a handicap blot three weeks ago. He can go well, along with Alnajeeb and The Guvnor who both retain potential, but the verdict goes to OLYMPUS. Tim Easterby’s 3yo is bred to prove a different proposition over this sort of trip and a gelding operation and the addition of blinkers could help too.

17:05 Gleniffer

A big field but only a handful make any great appeal. Jet Set Go has to prove she can back up her good run on her return as her previous good run also came on the back of a lengthy absence. She looks ahead of her mark and is feared, but GLENIFFER might be the answer. Jim Goldie’s 5yo was better than the bare result at Hamilton last time and his rider looks excellent value for his 5lb claim. Hard Solution, Upstaging and Written Broadcast are others to consider.
