Sapphire Lady is decent enough but she hasn’t ran since December 6th where she finished fifth out of six. On the ratings, Abbey Magic is the one they all have to beat with Henry de Bromhead’s runner rated 139. However, Contingency ran really well at the Punchestown festival behind Rapid Response. She ran well for a long way and she needed the run having not ran since the previous July. There could be a big improvement in her, she’s worth a shout.
A rating of 130 is plenty high enough for Andalusa. She’s a 116 hurdler and she’s a good jumper but she’s struggled a little bit in these handicaps. The one I like is Tiger Voice, who ran really well at Limerick two runs back and travelled well at the Punchestown festival over two miles and four furlongs last time out. It’s a drop back to two miles again and Darren O’Keeffe rides for Henry de Bromhead. Tiger Voice is worth a punt in this one.
The main worry I have with Bapaume is he’s 12 stone. He’s a small horse and that could be a big ask. Bleu Berry is rated 140, so that’s a six pound difference which could be key. Bleu Berry ran well at Punchestown earlier this month after a long layoff, he hadn’t ran since March 2019. I just worry about Bapaume carrying 12 stone and for that reason, I’m going with Bleu Berry.

Cacique Royale hasn’t won since September 2018 over a mile and a half at Naas. He’s looked pretty average in his last couple of runs. He seems to go well but his rating is quite low, he’s only got a flat rating of 69 so he’s going to have to be better than that to win. He might struggle to beat Pat Fahy’s General Counsel. He was fourth in Cork a few weeks back and his form is generally a lot stronger than Cacique Royale’s.
Grangeclare West runs in this one and hopefully it’ll be the third winner on the trot for Willie’s bumper horses. Patrick is suspended so Jody Townend takes the ride. I’d say Grangeclare West is in the same boat as Classic Getaway. They’re running in bumpers now, they’re both five years old and they’ll both be going jumping in the autumn.
