I’m going for Cold Stare for David O’Meara with Oisin Murphy on board. He’s back down to a rating of 87 but had climbed as high as 93. He has form on slow-ish ground and ran okay on his last start at Goodwood last week. He’s off a mark that he can be competitive at and the ground isn’t an issue.
I don’t have a strong opinion on this race but it’s easy to see why Kyber Crystal is favourite. He was second to Ebro River at Doncaster. Ebro River has gone to Sandown on Thursday night and won. Kyber Crystal’s form is strong but it’s not a big fancy.
I fancy Tarboosh in this one. He was slowly away in his last two starts and that is never a great thing in a sprint but he ran really well at Musselburgh last time out. It was the second run back since a wind operation. Graham Lee takes the ride, the ground could be slow and it stays well so Tarboosh is worth a go.
My guess is pretty much going to be as good as anyone else’s in this one, but I’m going for Ejtilaab. His last run in Chester was a decent outing considering he had a bad draw. He has a good draw on this occasion. Being drawn in stall 1 and having Richard Kingscote on board has convinced me to go for Ejtilaab.

The best way of putting it is that this is a weak Group 3 but Cabaletta is a decent filly. She has a rating of 102 and will wear blinkers for the first time. She was a good third on her last start at York behind Queen Power. She beat Frankly Darling at York over one mile on testing ground. If she’s retained any of that ability, it’s more than enough to win this race.
I’ve gone for Tipperary Sunset because I don’t see why Ryan’s Party will turn the tables. Both are entitled to improve since they faced off at Hamilton, where Tipperary Sunset beat Ryans Party, but I’ll stick with the form.
I was looking for a 7f horse and I landed on River Nymph. Two of his wins over 7f were off a mark of 84 so to win a Group 3, you’d want him winning off those marks at least. He ran at Ascot and Doncaster but put in sub-par performances. He dropped 1lb to 100 when he won at Ascot earlier this month over 7f. River Nymph, trained by Clive Cox, is a proper 7f horse and he’ll do me in this one.
The favourite Sibaaq, trained by Mark Johnston, is an obvious choice. He’s only three and he is still improving but he’s short odds. I find Give It Some Teddy interesting. He’s now trained by Tim Easterby and was rated about 85 when Tim got him. He’s dropped back to 77 and he’s the right side of the handicapper.
