Haydock 13:45 – Bielsa

ITV Saturday gets under way with this handicap over six furlongs. BIELSA did not run at all badly for this column when fifth at York last time and there is nothing to suggest he hasn’t got each-way claims again here for Silvestre de Sousa and Kevin Ryan. My hope loves this trip and has no problem with juice in the ground if it doesn’t dry up much from declaration time.

New to Paddy Power?

Beverley 14:00 – Hester Prynne

ITV show this conditions race over five furlongs. HESTER PRYNNE should have a great chance for David O’Meara and Cam Hardie. She has decent track form which is useful and when scoring on debut looked sure to improve, having dwelt at the start and only got on top close home. Stall 10 won’t make it easy, but on the basis a few may miss the start while Hester will have learnt from her debut. She should be able to overcome an outside berth.

Haydock 14:20 – Aljady

Now a Listed race over five furlongs for over three year olds. ALJADY loves soft ground and five furlongs and if there is still juice there by race time he should have a great each-way chance. He’s trained by Robert Cowell and the mount of Charlie Bishop, my hope had Moss Gill behind when second to Dakota Gold at Nottingham in October and that is decent form. He would have found the ground too fast at Newmarket last time so wasn’t disgraced behind Lazuli and Came from the Dark.

Chester 14:40 – Alexander James

A handicap here over an extended seven furlongs. In many ways I want to stick with Boardman but I’ll take a chance at a big price with ALEXANDER JAMES, who has a first run for Mick Appleby and Alistair Rawlinson. To be honest I have no idea if this horse has much talent or can perform from a mark of 91 but he stays better than some of these, has a good draw and likes juice in the ground. It’s a big risk. But hey… a few quid each-way is worth a go.

Haydock-Park Flat Battash

Haydock 14:55 – Cabaletta

Up to Group 3 company here with fillies and mares four year old plus over one mile and four furlongs. It’s hard to get away from CABALETTA here for David Egan and Roger Varian. The ground is no issue for the daughter of Mastercrafstman and her stamina is not an issue either as she has raced well up to one mile and six furlongs. Her third behind Queen Power was not incredible last time but this is easier and not a great renewal. She should take all the beating.

Beverley 15:10 – Tipperary Sunset

Another conditions race here for two year olds over five furlongs. TIPPERARY SUNSET might be the one here from a good draw. The colt edged right on debut which should help in this race with the rail near and with a newcomer on his inside he should pop out and have the chance to make all if good enough for John Quinn and James Sullivan.

Haydock 15:30 – Glorious Journey

Now the Group 3 John of Gaunt over seven furlongs. The solid one each-way here for me is GLORIOUS JOURNEY for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. He is an absolute seven furlong specialist and goes on any ground although some juice will be up his street. He was last in action in Riyadh when fourth to Space Blues and provided he has got over that trip and being in Meydan before that, he should run a big race.

Beverley 15:45 – Cassy O

Now a handicap over an extended seven furlongs. CASSY O did not do much at York last time but has plenty of form to suggest he might not be out of this if the ground stays testing. The Tim Easterby runner is ridden by Lewis Edmunds and is at the right end of the handicap to cope with the conditions. A high draw is not ideal but he’s dropped 1lb to a mark of 77 and that is workable. So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
