Sir Rodneyredblood arrives in top form but AL ASEF hasn’t been far behind that rival the last twice and is better off at the weights today. Good Earth won at Brighton on Monday and is second choice, ahead of Sir Rodneyredblood. The hold-up horse Inaam can go well if getting a strong pace, about which there can be optimism.

18:20 – Mejthaam

The leading form contenders are MEJTHAAM, Shuthoor and Verreaux Eagle in that slight order of preference. There isn’t much between them on the bare figures. Appellation could improve and take a serious hand.

18:50 – Gift Horse

Newcomers Offering and Unfinishedsympathy have something to recommend them but the form on offer looks worth sticking with. Lucky Shake and GIFT HORSE will emerge from the outside two stalls, as they did at Lingfield 22 days ago, and James Tate’s filly is taken to gain compensation for an unlucky defeat. Lady Dollars isn’t one to give up on after Goodwood.

19:20 – Astrogem

Some interesting 3yos line up here, notably White Lady and Rattling Rosie, but ASTROGEM, who may not have to lead and ran okay on her sole previous AW outing, is thriving and can land the hat-trick following ready wins at Doncaster and Yarmouth.

Having shown plenty of promise over C&D in both 2yo starts, ROYAL PLEASURE (nap) holds strong claims on his handicap debut. Stylish Performer is feared most, given that he has progressive course form. Farasi Lane is third choice.

20:20 – Critique

Few to consider here. CRITIQUE can be excused his 2021 showings and is best judged on the joint-best RPR he recorded over C&D in October. Tanqeeb and Imajorblush look best of the rest.

20:50 – Whatwouldyouknow

Not a lot of pace on paper and perhaps an opportunity for Tom Marquand to get WHATWOULDYOUKNOW into a handier position, despite emerging from the widest stall. He hasn’t been with Nigel Tinkler for long and knows his way to the winners’ enclosure here. Pope Gregory, who was found out by the extra distance in 0-75 company last time, rates the biggest danger having twice scored over C&D for his new yard.
