New to Paddy Power?

Poetic Flare

Emulated his sire with victory in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket 3 weeks ago, keeping on well. Not so good in messy French Guineas last weekend and turned out again very quickly. Don’t dismiss.

Battleground

Won the Chesham and Vintage Stakes in Britain last summer. Went off favourite (albeit 9/2) for the Guineas at Newmarket on return but didn’t look at home on the track. Could do better.

Lucky Vega

Ready winner of Group 1 Phoenix here last summer and returned with a bang with neck defeat behind Poetic Flare in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, closing all the way to the line. Big chance.

Monaasib

Got better with racing last year, winning twice, and made pleasing return behind Poetic Flare in Guineas Trial at Leopardstown last month. 1m in the mud fine, but yard rather quiet.

Mac Swiney

Did well in the mud last year, winning Group 2 here and signing off with victory in Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster. Better for return in the Derrinstown Derby Trial and could go well back down in trip.

Van Gogh

Won the Criterium at Saint-Cloud in the mud in October. Did best of yard’s 3 here in the Guineas at Newmarket on return, held like the others, looking ready for further. Don’t discount all the same.

Wembley

Won Roscommon maiden in the mud last summer before good runs in Group 1s. Looked the least imposing of yard’s trio beforehand at Newmarket and he struggled. Could do better here and is Moore’s pick.

Rebel Step

Handicap winner over this trip in the autumn and good efforts in second last twice. Stacks to find on form to take a hand in this, though.

Agrimony

Off the mark in 1m Gowran maiden 17 days ago, beating Emporio ¾ length. Massive step up here.

Emporio

Fairly useful maiden who put experience to good use when front-running second at Gowran 17 days ago in first-time tongue tie, overhauled by Agrimony. Some effort if he were to open account in this.

La Barrosa

Won 7f Ascot maiden and Newmarket Group 3 last season and returned with cracking effort in the Craven at latter track. Suspect he has more to offer, possibly a good deal.

The Rosstafarian

Stylish winner of soft-ground 1m Salisbury novice on debut in October and improved efforts in defeat since, still looking raw and not at home on the track in the Craven at Newmarket on return.
