2000 Guineas runners and betting for 2021 Newmarket Classic

Who'll win the first Classic of the season?

The flat racing season is gathering pace which means one thing – the 2000 Guineas is sprinting into sight. Paddy Power traders having priced up the betting market for the first of the 2021 English Classics after final declarations and we’ve rounded up all the key details below.

2000 GUINEAS BETTING

Wembley, a runner up in the National Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes on the Rowley Mile in his juvenile campaign, is the favourite with Paddy Power for the 2000 Guineas.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien – hunting a record-extending 11th victory in the race – has two more horses prominent in the betting in Battleground and Van Gogh.

O’Brien’s other fancied antepost entry Dewhurst Stakes winner St Mark’s Basilica was the notable admission from the final field of 15 declared runners.

Joseph O’Brien is aiming to get one over on his dad and has Thunder Moon – a dual winner at the Curragh as a two-year-old – as his sole entry.

One Ruler – the winner of last season’s Autumn Stakes at Newmarket – was the long-time antepost betting favourite with Paddy Power but Charlie Appleby’s charge has drifted in the build up to the race.
