Cheltenham Festival: Chacun Pour Soi 5/1 for Champion Chase 2022

Can Chacun make up for this year's Cheltenham misfire?

Chacun Pour Soi is available at 5/1 with Paddy Power for next year’s Queen Mother Champion Chase after an impressive victory at the Punchestown Festival.

Willie Mullins’ charge saw off the threat of Ryanair Chase winner Allaho dropping back in trip to win the Champion Chase by 5½l from his stablemate.

New to Paddy Power?

Chacun Pour Soi was third in this year’s Queen Mother Champion Chase after struggling up the hill at Cheltenham but saw off some criticism by delivering a masterclass performance on the opening day of Punchestown’s five-day meeting.

Allaho was running over two miles to test his credentials for next season but failed to live with Chacun Pour Soi’s pure pace. We’ll wait to see if connections opt for a two-mile campaign but Cheveley Park Stud’s seven-year-old is available at 14/1 in our antepost book for the feature race on day two of next year’s Cheltenham Festival.

Nube Negra placed second behind Put The Kettle On in this year’s Queen Mother Champion Chase but finished way back in third at Punchestown. The former Spanish flat runner is priced at 20/1 in the early betting for 2022.

A further clue for next season’s race came last Saturday at Sandown Park when Greaneteen roared past Altior to claim the Grade 1 Celebration Chase. It was a second win of the campaign for the seven-year-old, who placed fourth in this year’s Queen Mother Champion Chase and is 12/1 for next year’s renewal.

Cheltenham specialist Put The Kettle On failed to fire at Sandown finishing fourth. The mare is 14/1 to defend her title in 11 months’ time.

The Nicky Henderson-trained Shishkin remains the antepost favourite at 6/4 for next year’s Queen Mother Champion Chase after a perfect novice chasing season which was rounded off by a comfortable win in the Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree.
