We’re in the thick of the English Classics season here at Paddy Power with the flat taking over the reins from the jumps. We’ve done the Newmarket Classics, and with three more big races to look forward to, it’s set to be one heck of a sporting summer.

The Epsom Oaks is the second of the English Classics open exclusively to fillies after the 1000 Guineas. It also forms part of the fillies’ Triple Crown – the St Leger makes up the final leg – although the feat hasn’t been achieved since Oh So Sharp in 1985.

New to Paddy Power?

Dating back to the 1700s and created by the 12th Earl of Derby and his rich pals at a boozy bash, the Oaks may be somewhat overshadowed by the Epsom Derby these days but it presents a stiff test over the iconic 1m 4f track in Surrey. There’s also plenty of wonga on the line. A £212,663 cheque – hopefully novelty sized – will be handed over to winning connections.

We’ve rounded up all the key date and start time info so you’re fully clued up. Don’t forget to keep an eye on PP News for top tips from the likes of Ruby Walsh as we sprint closer to race day.

EPSOM OAKS 2021 DATE AND START TIME

The Epsom Oaks is scheduled for 4.30pm BST on Friday June 4, 2021 at Epsom Downs. It’s the feature race on Ladies Day at the two-day Derby Festival, with the prestigious Epsom Derby taking place the following day.

EPSOM OAKS 2021 ANTEPOST BETTING

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Santa Barbara is the 9/4 favourite for the Epsom Oaks in Paddy Power’s antepost betting market.

A daughter of 2012 Epsom Derby winner Camelot, she could only finish fourth in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket behind Mother Earth.

Another of O’Brien’s entries, Snowfall, has climbed to second in the betting after a dominant performance in the Musidora Stakes at York’s Dante Festival.

The rest of the field are available from 6/1 to 50/1. Head over to paddypower.com to see the antepost betting market in full for the Epsom Oaks.

*Odds quoted on the widget are Future Racing/Antepost prices which means that if your selection does not run in the race for whatever reason, you will lose your stake under traditional antepost rules

EPSOM OAKS 2021 ANTEPOST TIPS

Paddy Power ambassador Ruby Walsh:SEA EMPRESS had the profile after winning first time out, beating Teona at Newcastle. However, she disappointed big time at Newbury earlier this month. She could be an interesting one for her price but you’ll have to be willing to forgive that Newbury run. Sea Empress may potentially be the best option to take on Santa Barbara.”

Paddy Power trader Frank Hickey:NOON STAR is bred for the job and the slow pace of the Musidora didn’t suit, but I did like the way she stayed on after being tapped for toe when the pace lifted. She is capable of running a big race and I’m not giving up on her yet.”
