Henry de Bromhead experienced his best-ever Cheltenham Festival with a stunning haul of six winners over the four days at Prestbury Park, including the Gold Cup with Minella Indo.
The Waterford wizard claimed a one-two in the blue riband event as A Plus Tard finished second, with the result sealing a historic treble – the Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase and Gold Cup – for the 48-year-old trainer.
De Bromhead saw Honeysuckle claim a superb win in the Champion Hurdle under Rachael Blackmore before the Irish jockey steered Bob Olinger to victory in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle.
Things got even better for De Bromhead when Put The Kettle On beat Nube Negra and Chacun Pour Soi in the Queen Mother Champion Chase while Telmesomethinggirl also come home first past the post in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
Irish banker Envoi Allen suffered a surprise fall in the Marsh Novices’ Chase but De Bromhead also saw Quilixios win the Triumph Hurdle before Minella Indo headed a famous 1-2 in the Gold Cup – although he missed out on the leading trainer award to Willie Mullins on count-back.
