The 2021 Festival was one that will live long in the memory as the action at Presbury Park unfolded in front of empty stands. There were some incredible racing and heroic winners like Tiger Roll turning back the clock and Honeysuckle’s stirring, history-making victory.
And as the dust settles on the biggest and best week of the year, what better time to turn your attention to the Gold Cup, Champion Chase, Stayers’ Hurdle and Champion Hurdle antepost markets for 2022?
15th March 2022 – Champion Hurdle
Appreciate It got punters off to a flyer in 2021, winning the opening race as the big SP favourite. Honeysuckle and Rachel Blackmore then made history in the Champion Hurdle and our markets have these two horses battling it out for favouritism with 12 months to go. Honeysuckle heads the market but Appreciate it is not far behind.
16th March 2022 – Champion Chase
Shishkin was one of the stars of the 2021 Festival, romping The Arkle in style as the big odds-on favourite. He’s close to even money for this one at the time of writing and that certainly seems fair. Chacun Pour Soi, on the other hand, disappointed in the 2021 renewal but still retains second favouritism as the sun sets on the Festival.
17th March 2022 – Stayers’ Hurdle
Flooring Porter ran the legs off the field in the 2021 running of the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle to get the better of SP fav Paisley Park. As a result Flooring Porter storms straight into favouritism for the 2022 edition and if he goes anything like this year will be hard to stop. Paisley Park slots in to third fav behind Thyme Hill.
18th March 2022 – Gold Cup
Monkfish tops the market for the Gold Cup. Envoi Allen is second in the antepost book, despite falling in the 2021 Marsh Novices’ Chase.
