We can close the book on day three of Cheltenham 2021.
There was heartbreak for many an acca in the opener as Envoi Allen fell before Chantry House went on to win, but Rachael Blackmore had punters smiling by adding two more winners in Allaho and Telmesomethinggirl to go to five for Festival.
While Flooring Porter took the feature race in the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle and The Shunter snared the Paddy Power Plate Handicap Chase.
Our watchalong punters Ally McCoist, Ray Parlour and Alan Brazil were royally entertained by it all – you can watch back their stream on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook.
Join the lads as they sit down to watch the Cheltenham Festival on ITV. It’ll be just like being in the pub with your mates. Sort of… #CheltenhamFestival https://t.co/BrdrxjCilv

Here are the full results from the day’s races:
- Envoi Allen falls as 2/5 favourite in the day’s first race as Chantry House wins
- Mrs Milner beats The Bosses Oscar to take the Pertemps at 12/1
- Allaho obliterates the field in the Ryanair Chase
- Flooring Porter claims the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle under fill-in jockey Danny Mullins
- The Shunter brushes challengers aside to take home the Paddy Power Plate
- Cheltenham goes gaga for Telmesomethinggirl and Rachael Blackmore in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle
- Mount Ida goes off as favourite and wins the Kim Muir
And if it wasn’t your day, there’s always day four, where all eyes will be on Al Boum Photo to see if he can win a third Gold Cup – though there’ll be plenty of challengers:
And there’s the Mrs Paddy Power Mares Chase to look forward to as well!
Here’s how some of our pundits assess the final day’s runners and riders.
- Our pundits cheat sheet for day 4 of Cheltenham
- Matt Chapman on the final day’s card
- Frank Hickey’s best bets for Friday
- Timeform’s take on every race for Cheltenham’s closing day
- Mick Fitz makes his picks for Cheltenham’s on Friday
It should be another epic day’s racing, but you can re-live day three in our liveblog if you’re worried you missed anything…
Thursday 5:01pm | Mount Ida closes on the leaders
And breaks away from the second-to-last fence to win it comfortably in the end.
Had to earn it though…
🗣 "She must be 20 lengths behind the leader at this point."
An incredible ride from @jackkennedy15 – this clip from the first circuit shows Mount Ida a distant last in the Kim Muir before going on to victory 👏 #CheltenhamFestival pic.twitter.com/SA8mte7Rev

Thursday 4:51pm | One more time…
They’re on their way in the final race of the day
Thursday 4:42pm | What’s our top trader going for in the last?
Could use your free fiver bet on Frank Hickey’s each-way pick…
“Deise Aba ran really well in this race last year when finishing fifth off a mark of 142 off the back of winning at Sandown and finds himself coming into this race off the same mark of 142, after winning the very same Sandown race last time.
He was ridden far more prominently last time at Sandown and they are tactics that can give you an advantage at Cheltenham if you get into an early rhythm. Amateurs can’t ride this year, so Richard Johnson will take the ride. If things fall into place for him, he has a big race in him.”

Thursday 3:48pm | And now takes over the lead
And no one can catch him – The Shunter, under Jordan Gainford, takes it at 9/4, Farclas second (5/1) and Top Notch (50/1) third.
Thursday 3:48pm | The Shunter on his shoulder
The starting favourite just behind the leader, but they’re still tightly bunched with 6 to go…
Thursday 3:45pm | And they’re off now
Phew.

So it’s a standing start for this big field. We’re paying six places if you can sneak a bet on….
Thursday 3:34pm | Ruby’s pick
“The one that strikes me is Fils D’Oudairies for trainer Joseph O’Brien. His second-place finish to Envoi Allen is strong form. He’s a fine, big horse who looks well treated.”

Thursday 2:46pm | That was something else
And we’ve still the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle and the Paddy Power Plate to go.
Let’s see what Mick Fitz makes of the next one:
“The Paddy Power Stayers Hurdle lost a little of it’s sparkle when Thyme Hill came out, but there is still plenty of opposition to the favourite PAISLEY PARK. Vinndication unseated his rider in the Ladbroke Trophy at Newbury, was second in the Charlie Hall and fourth at last year’s festival carrying a big weight.
He is a really interesting runner and is a very good each-way price if you don’t fancy the favourite. I just feel Paisley Park will be too good for them.”
If you’re hanging on to your FREE £5 bet – one per customer and the usual T&Cs apply, check them out here – Vinndication could be worth an each-way punt there…
Make your free bet on PaddyPower.com nowThursday 2:38pm | And wins the Ryanair Chase!
Leading all the way around and pulls the field apart right from the start under Rachael Blackmore.
Another win for Willie.
Fakir Do’Oudairies second, Tornado Flyer third, Kalashnikov fourth.
Thursday 2:36pm | The front two maintain their lead
And now Allaho pulls away from Min
Thursday 2:34pm | Allaho to the front
Ahead of Min and there’s a six-length gap already tot the rest…
Thursday 2:32pm | Allaho 10/3, Min 4/1…
And Fakir D’Oudairies 11/2 as they go to the line.
And it’s a false start.
And they’re off at the second attempt.
Thursday 2:25pm | And it’ll be take-off in the Ryanair Chase shortly

The Bosses Oscar as they go off in the second race of the day.

Think that chap who cashed out for £275,000 will be very glad he did after that…
Thursday 1:25pm | Shan Blue leads by four lengths three from home…
But is closed down by Chantry House and Fusil Raffles who tussle it out with Matt Chapman’s pick, Chantry House, coming out on top at 9/1 to make it a 1-2 finish for Nicky Henderson.
Envoi Allen up and about as jockey Jack Kennedy trudges back…
Thursday 1:24pm | Unbelievable
Envoi Allen down! Horse and jockey are okay by the look of it. Stunner.
Thursday 1:22pm | Lining up at the start
And they’re off in the first of the day, Fusil Raffles leading in the early stages…
