14:20 at Meydan – Al Suhail to win

Patrick Kennelly

The ITV racing is of limited appeal to me personally on Saturday, but the so-called “Super Saturday” at Meydan does provide racing fans with some really blue-blooded action. In the Group 1 Jebel Hatta at 2.20pm, I think Al Suhail strikes as a decent bet at odds-against. It’s a below par Group 1, and trainer Charlie Appleby could have sent any number to this race.

He’s won three of the last five renewals, with William Buick having ridden two of those. In terms of his form, he looked upwardly mobile when slamming a Listed-field at Newmarket by six lengths, and with only six runs behind him, there is surely more to come. Main market rival Lord Glitters was beaten by an Appleby-trained horse last time out, and I can see the same fate awaiting here.

15:15 at Kelso – The Shunter to win

Aoife Corrigan

The Shunter was a winner of a Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Cheltenham in November and was a solid third on his latest start at Leopardstown. He was coming back from a layoff when staying on strongly on that occasion but was no match for the first two.

Emmet Mullin’s charge is dropping back slightly in trip for this and I think this will suit the horse. Emmett Mullins has had three runners in the last two weeks with the two to complete finishing first and second so the stable is clearly in great fettle. The Shunter has been sent on a 620km journey (nine hours between boat and driving) from his base in Bagenalstown, County Carlow to Kelso and I expect him to be bang there at the finish, clearing the travelling expenses and hopefully shortening his connections’ journey home.

17.30 Both teams to score in Aston Villa v Wolves

Graham Temple

Aston Villa will be chomping at the bit to score a few goals when they host Wolves on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League after failing to score against a very determined ten-man Sheffield Utd on Wednesday night. It certainly wasn’t through a lack of flair and effort that they were kept scoreless in that midweek affair and I expect a very attacking approach from Dean Smith’s team once again in this game.

Wolves have been in good scoring form lately themselves, netting in each of their last four premier league matches.  Wolves have scored in seven of the last eight head to heads at Villa Park and in each of the last four visits to Villa Park. I’m expecting an entertaining end to end encounter here and my NAP for the weekend is for both teams to score at a shade of odds on. Look out for Wolves striker William Jose. He’s yet to score for his new team after nine appearances. He was very prolific for Sociedad and is clearly overdue a goal. He’d be a tempter in the anytime goal scorer market at decent odds.
