Paddy Power Millionaire Chase: ‘I’d buy a house, a car and go on a mad holiday’, says latest qualifier

And they say that Scots are tight!

Cheltenham Paddy Power

We’re happy to announce yet another lucky punter has a chance to become a millionaire thanks to Paddy Power’s rescheduled Millionaire Chase .

Jillian from Edinburgh booked herself a spot in the upcoming mega-money sweepstake race, now due to be held at Cheltenham Trials Day on January 30, after joining Paddy’s Rewards Club.

And the opportunity to win big will provide the heroic care-home nurse with what she called a ‘welcome distraction’ after a challenging year which saw her contract COVID-19 last April.

“Winning 10k is a very welcome distraction!” Jillian said.

“My friends say I’m lucky and I’ve won the odd raffle and got about £500 off a football coupon once.

“I only occasionally bet on horses, but regularly do the football coupon. I’m a Celtic fan so I’ve had a good run of it but it looks like it will all come to an end before the holy grail of the 10 in a row.

“My biggest near-miss was cashing out on a coupon for good money. It would have been much more if I’d let it run with just one team to go – but I just couldn’t trust Arsenal!

“I’ll be watching the big race with my parents, brothers, partner and kids…I’m now the favourite auntie for sure!

“If I do win I’ll be buying a house, a car and I’ll go on a mad holiday, anywhere, once it’s safe to do so.”

Paddy Power Millionaire Chase: Cheltenham’s New Year’s Day meet abandoned – what happens now

If you’re not sure what we’re on about, here is a quick recap.

One bright spark here at Paddy Power thought it would be nice to ring in the New Year with a huge £/€1million giveaway, waving goodbye to a pretty wretched 2020 and kickstarting one customer’s 2021 in style.

Six qualifying races were held throughout November and December, with punters who opted in and backed the winner in each event entering an online draw for a spot in the New Year’s Day sweepstake where they will be randomly assigned a runner.

Those who were picked out of the hat each week automatically pocketed £/€10k, while the winner of the main event will walk away with the £/1m booty.

The weather unfortunately put paid to our plans on the big day, but the Millionaire Chase has now been rescheduled for the end of the month and the field is filling up fast.

Six customers made it into contention thanks to the qualifying events, but Jillian is one of three lucky punters who have made the cut so far by entering a draw after joining up to Paddy’s Rewards Club.

That means she has already banked the £/€10k prize just for making it into the sweepstake and is planning to spend big on a new house and a car if she gets lucky again.

Keep your eyes peeled for the rules and regulations regarding any further wildcard slots as we get towards race day, and good luck!
