There’s nothing like making the right calls at the perfect time when it comes to your punts and that’s exactly what one of our crafty customers did last Friday, spanking our bean counters in the process.
Our winner – from Somerset, England – managed to call an impressive five winners on a sweet six-leg horse racing accumulator, but cleverly decided to cash out before the final race on the betslip and it proved to be one hell of a decision!
Our victor had selected races from the all-weather meetings at Southwell and Dundalk on the night, but the tough choice to cash out was vindicated when the final selection of the evening finished out the back of the tellybox. If the bet was left to ride, a big fat zero would have been returned off the plucky punt.
But, having hitting the Cash Out button, our pal collected a tidy £3,372 from a £5 stake in the space of an hour and 20 minutes.
Not bad for a Friday evening eh? Let’s tell you how it came in:

The evening got underway in the 17:45 at Southwell, where ARTISTIC STREAK (11/4) rated as the first selection on the bumper bet. Thankfully, Donald McCain’s mare wasted no time in justifying her favourite’s tag and romped to an 11-length victory over Raven’s Raft in second to get the punt off to a flyer.
A quick hop across the Irish Sea was required after that, as the 18:00 contest at Dundalk swiftly followed and another favourite did the business for our victor. FERRYBANK (2/1), trained by Ted Walsh, was given a great ride by Chris Hayes and made all to see off Silence After by two lengths.
We were back at Southwell for the final time next, and our punter needed a win from the Lawrence Mullaney-trained MARVE (6/1) in the 18:15 to keep the show on the road. This one was a tad tighter than the two previous races, but the gelding kept on after going clear a furlong out to see off a game Ghost Rider for a one-and-three-quarter lengths win.
Our winner was soon to have a fantastic four up on the betslip as SCHOLASTIC landed at 4/1 in the 18:30 at Dundalk. Joseph O’Brien’s charge needed a shake-up in the final furlong of the 2m affair, but still won easily by one-and-a-quarter lengths from Jake Peter – who filled the runner-up spot.
Next on the hit-list was the 19:00 race at the Co Louth track and our customer was seeking a success from 3/1 favourite CHATEAU MUSAR. John Geoghegan’s gelding was given a serious challenge from Blackstone Cliff, but would eventually show that the market confidence was well placed by getting to the winning post three-quarters of a length in front.
Then it was decision time for our victor, as we presented a tasty cash out offer of £3,372 before the final race on the accumulator at 19:30 in Dundalk. Fantastically, the decision was made to accept the deal and our punter would have been even happier to see the last selection of the night Fryerns finish a lowly fifth behind the eventual winner Romann.
If our winner had left the bet ride going into that race all of the good work would have been undone But, thanks to his call to cash out – he ended up with a cool £3,372. Enjoy the winnings pal!
