19:45 – Roundel (nap)

Makes his first appearance for David O’Meara since joining his yard from Ireland, where he was a fairly useful performer for Denis Hogan. Despite remaining a maiden after eight runs, Roundel put up some good performances in defeat, including when finishing fourth at Limerick last month, shaping as if still in good form over the six furlong trip.

Roundel is proven at up to 9.5f, so it is interesting that O’Meara has persisted with him over a sprint trip, and considering the relatively poor quality of this race, this could prove a good opportunity for his new recruit to belatedly open his account.

18:45 – Perfect Swiss (next best)

Perfect Swiss proved better than ever when opening his account for the season at Pontefract last month, coming clear with an unexposed one, and he has backed that up with a couple of good runner-up finishes of late, firstly at Ayr, running another cracker under a penalty, and more recently over this course and distance, just unlucky to run into one, though he did pull well clear of the remainder. He is going through a good spell at present and remains one to be interested in.

19:15 Thriller’s Moon (each-way)

Didn’t do himself any favours at the start when leaving the stalls awkwardly at Wolverhampton last month, but he still ran respectably tackling all-weather for the first time this season, staying on for fourth in the final furlong.

Thriller’s Moon was a bit below form when eighth at Redcar last month, not looking at his best on heavy ground, but this contest doesn’t look the most competitive affair, and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back to form now returned to the all-weather. The application of first-time blinkers should also be a positive, hopefully helping him get away much quicker this time.
